Samsung Chromebook: The $499 Google thought experiment

Review The most amazing thing about Google's inaugural Chromebooks is that they come with a file manager. It's not much of a file manager, but it's relatively easy to find, and it gives you relatively quick access to the files you've download, or...

Hands On With the Samsung Chromebook Series 5

Hang on, folks, because mobile computing has just got a bit more interesting. Google's Chrome OS is finally ready for the wild, two years after its launch. The Samsung Chromebook Series 5, due out on June 15, will be one of two laptops to showcase...

I’m not convinced that everyone will want, or even need, a Chromebook. But what I saw so far looks to have promise. And with pricing for Samsung’s models starting at £349 for the Wi-Fi version, the Chromebok looks set to give standard netbooks and...

Chromebooks Find the Right Price

In every single way, the Samsung Chromebook — seriously, that's what they named this thing — is the lesser of the company's two Chrome OS portables. It's made with lower-quality materials. It has a smaller display. It has the guts of a tablet rather...

Samsung Chromebook Series 5 review: Samsung Chromebook Series 5

Samsung Chromebook Series 5

The ; is a small, attractive Netbook with long battery life, true instant-on Web access, and enough computing to use the Internet.

The Series 5 is expensive for its features and abilities, and using it can be frustrating depending on your wireless signal strength.

Despite solid hardware, great battery life, and fast startup, we can't recommend the Samsung Chromebook Series 5 until and unless Google improves the Chrome OS.

Samsung Chromebook review

Effortlessly light ; Cheap, even by Chromebook standards ; USB 3.0 and HDMI compatibility

Software still stuttery from time to time ; Creaky plastic ; Odd, inconvenient port placement

This Chromebook performed like a Chromebook
