Sony VAIO F review

You get a big, Full HD screen, a Core i7 CPU, 8GB of RAM, lots of hard drive space and preinstalled Adobe software. However, you do have to pay a premium price for the Sony VAIO F laptop.

More than £1,000 is a lot to pay for a notebook these days, but you're not only getting high-end specifications with the Sony VAIO F Series, you're also getting a notebook that has a brilliant screen, a well-designed and solid body and useful Adobe...

Sony VAIO F review: Sony VAIO F

Sony VAIO F

With a Blu-ray drive, Nvidia GeForce 540M graphics, and a full 1080p resolution display, the ; is a full-featured movie and gaming machine, with a sharp look and useful preloaded software.

The 16-inch screen can sit uncomfortably between midsize and desktop replacement laptops, and the Sony price premium is nearly on par with Apple's. Plus, the battery life is disappointingly weak.

If the size is right for you, the Vaio F Series is a well-made high-end laptop, and is a good reminder that Sony is one of the few brands that comes close to Apple on design and polish.

Sony VAIO F Review

The Sony VAIO F is a high-end multimedia notebook. Our powerhouse test unit features an Intel Core i7 quad-core processor and Nvidia GT 425M graphics card. What's wrong with it? Read our review.

Great performance ; Nice backlit keyboard ; Decent speakers

Boring design ; Noisy fan ; Loud touchpad buttons ; Subpar screen ; The VAIO F is a powerful multimedia notebook that accomplishes most of what Sony designed it to do.

Sony VAIO F (F111FX)

High-end CPU, Blu-ray drive., Pro: High-end CPU, free Blu-ray drive

No high end GPU option., Con: No high-end GPU option

The Sony Vaio F is a solid mid-tier Sony notebook that is well built with good material at a reasonable price. The high-end Intel Core i7 processor and dedicated graphics make this notebook a good candidate for audio and video users and developers. The...
