Sony VAIO S Series VPC-SB1V9E review

Feature-packed Sony ultraportable laptop

Sandy Bridge CPU ; Highly portable ; Great set of features ; Plenty of storage ; Anti-glare screen

Not much of a looker ; Occasionally noisy

The Sony VPC-SB1V9E is Sony's latest power ultraportable laptop but it's unusual for Sony - itfalls into the business-oriented VAIO S-Series range.

Thin and light, impressive multimedia capabilities

Poor 802.11n performance, large bundle of trial software

Sony's Vaio SB is one of the nicer business laptops we've tested recently. It's thin and light, with few or no compromises, and it even fits an optical drive in. We did find Sony's labelling of the SB's GPU switch amusing, but there's a lot to be said...

Great lightweight design. Fantastic keyboard. Superior enhancments over manufacturers.

No dedicated graphics. Could handle games a little better. SSD storage should come as standard. Fingerprint scaner location compromises use of buttons. Poor multitouch performance on the trackpad. Would be good toops have more gestures, e.g. 2 finger...

Sony Vaio VPC-SB1X9E

The machine is very efficient, lightweight and has everything you need for computing on the move, without compromising on speed, weight and battery life.

Unfortunately I returned this machine back to the store because I was unable to get it to work with an external monitor when working at base. The picture on the monitor was wavy and despite purchasing a new monitor for this machine I still could not...
