Sony VAIO Z Series (VPC-Z11Z9E/B) - 13.1in Laptop

Sony throws the kitchen sink at this ultra-fast, ultra-portable laptop with power saving graphics switching.

In many ways the Sony VAIO Z Series is one-of-a-kind. As fast as many desktops, but no heavier than many netbooks, it's a testament to what can be achieved thanks to modern hardware and engineering. It's a niche product, of that there's no doubt, but...

Sony VAIO VPCZ11Z9E/B review

Cramming a Core i7 processor into an ultraportable results in a staggeringly fast yet lightweight laptop.

That 13.1in display finally gets a Full HD, 1,920 x 1,080 native resolution, and it offers eye-popping brightness and glorious colours. The only drawback is that you’ll need to take full advantage of Windows 7’s text-scaling abilities to avoid...

Review Sony Vaio VPCZ11X9E/B Notebook

Mighty Midget. A fast Core i5, gaming-suitable graphic card, DVD

Excellent display; Performance / case size; Keyboard; Applied materials; Integrated DVD drive

Fan's noise characteristics are a bit unpleasant; Loud under load; Underclocked GT330M (GT325M level); Very delicate display lid; Optimus not implemented

Actually only the Alienware M11x with stronger graphics, lower price, but without an internal DVD drive and with a weaker CULV CPU.

Sony Vaio VPC-Z11X9E

Weight, boot up time (solid state disk), performance.

It has a fan fault where it starts to spin at very high revs which sometimes ends in the system crashing. The on board graphics driver sometimes crashes but usually recovers following a few moments of blank screen.

I faced twice with screen problem and it still remaining and since the value of laptop is around 2500 Euro such problem in around 2 years is not acceptable and will for sure make impact in my future choice. If these problems were not existing or...

Lightweight, good if you travel a lot

Only lasted about six months before I had problems with it constantly overheating. Not good value for money.

Sony Vaio VPC-Z11X9E

Brilliant reflection free HD display, ultra compact, lightweight, excellent performance, fast solid state drive, silent (except for CD drive). This notebook is not only aesthetically beautiful but a marvel of design. A treasured possession. Am using...

The size and positions of two keys on the keyboard have given problems. The Caps Lock key is too large and easy to press by mistake resulting in longs strings of upper case text being inadvertently typed. An audible alert on pressing would avoid this....

Sony Vaio VPC-Z11X9E

Does everything I need. Screen image quality is excellent. Fast. Good keyboard. Works with all peripherals I've used, such as various data projectors, with no fuss (unlike some laptops from another leading make).

Pre-loaded with MSOffice 2007 30day trial version, and Mcaffee, and other rubbish. I didn't want these as I was intending to load MS-Office 2010, and Eset NOD32. I then found that it is almost impossible to clean out these pre-installed items -...
