Toshiba Satellite M645-S4118x

The Toshiba Satellite M645-S4118x laptop serves up the latest Intel processor and features like Blu-ray, Harman Kardon speakers, and speedy USB 3.0 and Bluetooth connections.

Powerful second-generation Intel Core i5 processor. Backlit keyboard. Harman/Kardon speakers with Dolby Advanced Audio. Blu-ray player. Speedy USB 3.0 port and wireless Bluetooth 3.0 connection.

Four-hour battery life is short for a mainstream laptop. Dated design.

The desktop of the Satellite M645-S4118X is wonderfully uncluttered, without all the extraneous icons that usually fill a new laptop's screen. But if you dig deeper into the system, you'll find that Toshiba has its own bloatware to serve up. You'll...

Toshiba Satellite M645-S4118X

If you're looking for svelte, sexy design, then Toshiba's $1100, 5.5-pound Satellite M645-S4118X may not be your cup of tea. If you're looking for excellent all-purpose laptop performance, playable gaming frame rates, and top-notch sound and...

Decent gaming frame rates ; Good everyday performer

Annoyingly bright power button light ; Only 10/100 ethernet

Like an unmarked highway patrol car, this all-purpose laptop's unassuming looks belie its power.

Toshiba Satellite M645-S4116

With a new Sandy Bridge processor and a lot of memory, the Toshiba Satellite M645-S4116 laptop excels for work in standard productivity applications—but its graphics prowess and battery life leave something to be desired.

Strong application performance. USB 3.0 port included. Nice-sounding Harman Kardon speakers.

Unimpressive battery life.

Toshiba Satellite M645-S4080

The Toshiba Satellite M645-S4080, a mainstream laptop, runs some of the fastest components available, but at what cost?

Powerful Core i5 processor. 6GB of DDR3 memory. Switchable graphics with great Nvidia chip. Excellent typing experience. Backlit keyboard.

Pricier than similar laptops. Battery is too small. Processor not running at full strength, especially off the AC. Heat is bothersome when running intensive tasks.

Toshiba Satellite M645 review: Toshiba Satellite M645

Toshiba Satellite M645

Nvidia Optimus graphics; great Harman Kardon speakers.

Underwhelming battery life; no Blu-ray.

The Toshiba Satellite M645-S4055 has a great combination of audio/video quality and fast graphics, but its short battery life compromises the equation on what's otherwise a rock-solid midrange laptop.

Toshiba Satellite M645-S4055

If you're looking for a mainstream, all-purpose laptop with above-average gaming capabilities, the 6-pound Toshiba Satellite M645-S4055 is a worthy, albeit pricey, contender for your computing dollars. It has top-notch input ergonomics, snappy...

Good overall performance ; Very good frame rates in games

Branding apps need trimming ; Keyboard backlighting lacks a dimmer

Above-average sound, performance, and gaming highlight this otherwise staid midsize laptop.

Toshiba Satellite M645 Review

The Toshiba Satellite M640 and M645 offer a 14-inch laptop with solid performance and an attractive design at a modest price. As parents and students gear up for the back-to-school season, does the Satellite M640 below at the top of your shopping list?...

Attractive design ; Excellent performance ; Great keyboard

Weak screen protection ; A little expensive as configured ; The Toshiba Satellite M645 offers great style and performance at a fair price.

Toshiba Satellite M645-S4055

Toshiba makes laptops like Volvo makes cars: sturdy, well-featured, but not always inspiring. Midsize Toshiba Satellite laptops tend to blend together in terms of design, and the Satellite M645-S4055 falls ...

Best-value laptop

Good value, excellent components for the price, blu-ray drive

Boring design, mediocre battery life

Consumer review (newegg.com)

Okay in the start

I'm going to stay away from Toshibas in the future, the overheating issue is ridiculous, even if I have it running on a cooling pad it still overheats.

The price range was decent for the hardware specs provided

The fan is SUPER noisey, which is funny considering the fact that after 2 years of owning it I'm constantly dealing with overheating issues that I'm no longer covered for by the 1 year warranty
