Asus UX50V review

A stylish and high-quality offering from Asus, but not the fastest machine

Good graphics card ; Nice build quality ; Reasonable performance

Keyboard flexed slightly under pressure ; Core 2 Solo could be better

A very nice laptop for those looking for something a little less run-of the mill

ASUS U50Vg review

The ASUS U50Vg has a backlit keyboard so that you can type in the dark, but, most interestingly, there are lights in the touchpad that follow every vertical movement your finger makes.

This 15.6in notebook is quick and has plenty of useful features. In particular, we love its multitouch touchpad. The ASUS U50Vg would make a great desktop replacement, but it's also capable of being transported to work or school and its battery life is...

Asus U50VG review

Not a terrible laptop when viewed on its own, but with no Blu-ray drive or decent gaming performance, the U50VG looks overpriced here.

Asus U50VG review

At over three centimetres deep, Asus' U50 achieves a rare aesthetic trick for a notebook with a 15.6in screen: it appears much thinner and lighter than it actually is. The dimensions aren't anything particularly special, but there's a design deftness...

Stuff magazine

More light pours out of the Asus U50 than the Arc of the Covenant in Raiders, but is it a shining example of laptop chic?

A dazzling laptop, but doesn't quite deliver on the promise of style and power that its design suggests

Asus UX50

A notebook sized netbook

Good looking case design and finish, two GPUs

Ports placed in a awkward place, mouse pad a 'drag' to use

is a recent addition to the firm's notebook division under its 'superior mobility' marketing banner. What this basically boils down to is that Asus is aiming this and similar models to be light and stylish, perhaps with one eye on MSI's X Slim series.

Asus UX50V

Glamorous 15in laptop, but not pretty enough to justify its mammoth price tag

Although attractive, we weren’t hugely impressed with the keyboard, while the design of the trackpad buttons is woeful. And despite its ability to switch to a discrete graphics chip, the Nvidia Geforce G105M isn’t up to much in terms of gaming. If...

Asus UX50V laptop review

Asus has been focusing on the design of its products of late and the UX50V is certainly a looker, but does it have the brains to match this beauty?

It's an incredibly stylish machine but, unfortunately, the UX50V is neither portable enough to please frequent travellers nor powerful enough to satisfy the demands of those who use a laptop as their main PC. What's more, in every possible area, it's...
