BlackBerry 8830 World Edition PDA

The flexibility of GSM international roaming, paired with BlackBerry's easy-to-use messaging capabilities, gives the BlackBerry 8830 World Phone an unbeatable one-two punch for business users and frequent international travelers.

RIM BlackBerry 8830 (Verizon)

Seamless global roaming. Excellent media player. Easy to use and very stable. Long battery life

No support for DRM music or Bluetooth stereo. Poor options for editing Microsoft Office documents

Verizon's best business smartphone will let you surf the Web, get your e-mail and make high quality phone calls practically anywhere on earth.

BlackBerry 8830 World Edition

So much about the RIM BlackBerry 8830 World Edition is familiar. But one aspect is very foreign--and therein lies this Sprint phone's appeal.

Works on both GSM and CDMA networks ; Great e-mail device

Lacks a camera ; Lacks consumer IM clients

Adds support for GSM international roaming to the RIM BlackBerry 8800's already impressive feature set.

BlackBerry 8830 World Edition

If you do not leave the Canada or the United States regularly, then the BlackBerry 8830 Curve will be of little interest. The big claim to fame for the thin, but larger, BlackBerry 8830 is that it can be used throughout Europe. For you stuffy...

BlackBerry 8830 Review: A World-Class BlackBerry

The BlackBerry 8830 is a good choice for world travelers who need to be on a CDMA network at home but want to keep the same number while abroad and can't live without a BlackBerry device. Other worldwide travelers might prefer a smaller, more...

Irreproachable, sturdy design. The BlackBerry 8830 looks like it will withstand bad treatment., A great ultra-large display., I have mixed feelings about the keypad. It is a bit too slippery and I would have preferred some grip: either a gel-like or...

MicroSD card access requires back cover removal., It's a detail but a pesky one. Menus don't loop so, when you get at the bottom of a list, pressing down again doesn't bring you back to the top., To accommodate a majority of corporate users whose...

With the phone can access voice in 157 countries, including 135 via GSM, which means that users will have the opportunity to say "Can you hear me now?" in dozens of languages. E-mail coverage is available in roughly 60 countries. Depending on your...

RIM BlackBerry 8830 World Edition Review

The BlackBerry 8830 is nearly unique in the smartphone world by virtue of its support for both CDMA and GSM cellular-wireless networks. Jerry Jackson brings us this review. *UPDATED*

World coverage ; Integrated GPS ; Integrated media player ; Full keyboard ; Good battery life

Squishy keys placed too close together ; Still using an almost useless web browser ; Inconvenient location for the microSD card slot

The BlackBerry 8830 is a logical upgrade of the 8800 and is the perfect smartphone for world travelers who need full access to email, address book and calendar, but also want GPS map tools and a built-in media player. While the design might not be too...

RIM BlackBerry 8830 World Edition Review

If that isn't enough to get your attention, the 8830 also serves as your multimedia player with support for MP3 music files, video, and digital photos

World coverage ; Integrated GPS ; Integrated media player ; Full keyboard ; Good battery life

Squishy keys placed too close together ; Still using an almost useless web browser ; Inconvenient location for the microSD card slot

Bottom line, globetrotting business professionals will be hard pressed to find a better solution for mobile email access and little multimedia fun

Consumer review (newegg.com)

Very good, but no GPS

The phone looks and performs new. It comes in a plain white box with a battery and charger. A little dissapointing that it does not have GPS, minus a star for this (more of an issue with Verizon though).

Looks brand new, comes with new battery.

GPS is deactivated by Verizon on this phone! NO GPS.
