Google Pixel 3a XL review: don't mourn the notch

Pixel 3a XL wants to bring everything you love about the Google Pixel 3 XL to a attractive new price point

Phenomenal Pixel 3 Camera ; 3.5mm Headphone Port ; Fast-Charging / Fast-Charger In The Box ; 3 Years Of Android OS Updates Guaranteed ; Unlimited Google Photos Storage

Very Difficult To Use One-Handed ; No Ultra-Wide Group Selfie Mode From Pixel 3 ; No Water Or Dust Resistance ; No Wireless Charging ; Not As Powerful As Some Phones At This Price

Google Pixel 3a XL review

This affordably priced smartphone is the Pixel for the people

Vivid, punchy OLED screen ; Class-leading camera ; 3.5mm headphone jack ; Seamless Android OS

Sound quality is lacking ; Plastic body feels cheap

A serious smartphone for Android purists on a budget

Google Pixel 3a XL review

The Pixel 3 XL loses the notch - and a few hundred quid, too

Class-leading main camera ; Good battery life ; Hints of old-school Google phone appeal ; It has a headphone jack

Dated-looking borders ; Pricier than rival mid-rangers

All the best bits of the Pixel 3 XL for less cash - but Google needs to up its design game next time.

Hands on: Hands on: Google Pixel 3a XL review

Big-screen Pixel power at a lower price point

Headphone jack returns ; Great camera potential ; Slick, stock Android

Design is a little bland

Its design may not be head-turning, but the Google Pixel 3a XL packs a punch internally with a potentially great camera for the price point. It's the best of Google in a phone, at a lower price tag.

Google Pixel 3a XL review: A stunning smartphone at the right price

The Google Pixel 3a XL delivers the same camera hardware and features but for significantly less cash

Same camera as the Pixel 3 XL ; Same software as the Pixel 3 XL ; Better battery life than the Pixel 3 XL

No water or dust-resistance ; No wireless charging ; Screen isn't edge-to-edge

However, those are the only differences between the handsets. You get the same camera, chipset and software, all for a price that, at £399, makes it the bargain of the year. Like the 3a XL but even better value, it's our current favourite phone of 2019.

Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL review

The Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL are Google's latest phones, and their key selling point is that they bring the same exact software and camera experience from the Pixel 3 and 3 XL to a much lower price point -- $399 and $479, respectively. You also get...

Smart and helpful software, speedy updates ; Great performance ; Fantastic camera ; Relatively affordable pricing ; Good battery life

Pixel 3a XL review: Google's triumphant return to affordable phones

Don't think of the new 3a XL as just Google's cheap new phone — that's selling it short. It might not have the same kind of horsepower as the original Pixel 3, but the 3a XL offers just about everything else that made last year's models compelling at a...

You get the Pixel’s best features on a budget ; Reliable performance for the price ; Good camera performance ; Much-improved battery life ; It has a headphone jack!

No water resistance or expandable storage ; Unclear so far if performance will degrade like the original Pixel 3 ; Screen isn’t quite as crisp as the 3 XL’s

Google Pixel 3A review: a $399 phone with a great camera

At $399 and $479, respectively, the Pixel 3A and 3A XL are great deals.

Low price ; Excellent camera ; Clean Google version of Android

Slow processor ; No wireless charging ; Not water resistant

But I do know this: I have been waiting for Google to make this exact phone for something like five years. Google used to make phones that were ridiculously good for the price. 2013’s $349 Nexus 5 is still the pinnacle of an inexpensive, excellent...
