HP iPaq Glisten

The name "iPaq" evokes distant memories of those monolithic PDAs from a decade ago. Fortunately, the HP iPaq Glisten ($180 with a two-year contract from AT&T; price as of 12/15/09) looks nothing like its ancestors. But its operating system, however,...

Excellent keyboard ; Solid construction

Touchscreen too small ; Mediocre multimedia features

The HP iPaq Glisten has some great features for business users, but the small touchscreen can be difficult to use with Windows Mobile.

HP iPAQ Glisten (AT&T)

The HP iPAQ Glisten is a middling Windows Mobile slab smartphone that will suit businesses running Microsoft back-end software just fine.

Vibrant AMOLED touch screen. Excellent keyboard. Tight Microsoft Exchange integration.

Poor Web browser and media player. Disappointing camera. Weak speakerphone.

Camera and Conclusions The 3.1-megapixel camera was another disappointment. There's no flash, auto-focus, or even a shortcut button. Many test photos were too blurry; shutter delay was a reasonable one second outside, but fell to almost three seconds...

HP iPaq Glisten (AT&T) review: HP iPaq Glisten (AT&T)

HP iPaq Glisten (AT&T)

The HP iPaq Glisten features a spacious QWERTY keyboard and offers the full range of wireless options. The phone has a sturdy construction.

The smartphone has a low-resolution screen that really isn't optimized for a touch user interface. It has subpar multimedia capabilities, and performance can be sluggish at times.

Offering the bare minimum, the HP iPaq Glisten fails to impress us. It can serve the role of a basic messaging smartphone, but there are better alternatives out there.

HP iPAQ Glisten Review

The iPAQ Glisten is available now for $380 directly from HP or for $180 from AT&T with a new or renewed two-year contract

Gorgeous AMOLED display ; Snappy performance ; Good battery life

Relatively poor speakerphone performance, most notably low speaker volume ; Occasionally stuttery music playback ; Annoying five-way navigator

HP Photosmart Mobile is included, and I enjoyed the picture viewer application. It was easy to organize my photos, send them via email and even set them up to print automatically from a memory card. A slideshow feature is also included, and it works well

HP iPAQ Glisten Review - Smartphone Reviews by Mobile Tech Review

The more things change, the more they stay the same, or so the cliche goes. It's apt enough for HP's latest business smartphone, the Glisten, whose form and function aren't so different from the 2008 HP iPAQ 910c. The looks have gotten more modern and...

QWERTY messaging phone that's well-suited to business

Small, low resolution display, not a multimedia demon

The HP Glisten is literally a solid Windows Mobile QWERTY bar phone. It's well-made, sturdy and not bad looking as business phones go. But we can't say it adds anything new or enticing to the mix, and there's little that's changed since the HP 910c...
