Huawei Mate 10

Huawei Mate 10 review, price, release date, specs and price. It's not coming to the UK, but how good does the Huawei Mate 10 look?

Takes good pictures in low light ; Great performance ; Very good battery life

EMUI software is a pain

Despite Huawei’s constant marketing spam about the greatness of its ‘co-engineered with Leica’ dual-lens cameras, I’ve always found them to be good; not great. Which is why I didn’t put much stock into Huawei’s pre-release claims about the Mate 10’s...

Huawei Mate 10 review

A halfway-house between a traditional phone and a slim-screen stunner

Modern design with familiar screen size ; Brilliant battery life ; Plenty of power

Camera can’t keep up with the Pixel 2 ; EMUI still has quirks ; Mate 10 Pro actually available here in the UK

A more traditional alternative to the modern Mate 10 Pro, with a slightly easier-to-swallow price - if you live somewhere it’s on sale, anyway

Huawei Mate 10 review

A bargain of a flagship

Premium design ; Quality camera ; Powerful chipset

No real waterproofing ; EMUI not for everyone ; No wireless charging

The Huawei Mate 10 is a big phone with an excellent camera, striking design and plenty of power under the hood. Given its size, it won’t be for everyone, but with very few shortcomings it’s a definite contender for best value for money big phone of 2017.

This phone is hard to find, but worth the effort

Huawei's Mate 10 is fast, has great cameras and a beautiful big screen. It's also a good deal cheaper than an iPhone 8 Plus or Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

Huawei’s Mate 10 gives you performance and cameras comparable to Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 and Google’s Pixel XL 2, but for several hundred bucks less. It also has a headphone jack.

The phone’s battery doesn’t last as long as the Mate 10 Pro despite being the same size. Huawei’s Android software could be smoother and the phone isn’t getting an official release in the US or UK.

The Huawei Mate 10 may be hard for you to get your hands on, but it’s worth the effort if you want a big-screen phone and don’t quite have the budget for a Galaxy Note, iPhone Plus or Pixel 2.

Before you go dirt cheap, consider spending a bit more on the Nikon D5600

There are only some minor tweaks over the almost 2-year-old D5500, but it remains a great, slightly-more-than-cheap dSLR.

The Nikon D5600 delivers excellent photo quality for its price class, as well as performance that can keep up with your kids and pets.

It may be too small for people with larger hands and it turns off the self-timer after every shot in single-shot mode.

Lightweight and compact with everything the family photographer needs, the Nikon D5600 maintains its position as a great general-purpose dSLR for its price class.

Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro review: Huawei's fantastic phablet is a winner

With great battery life, cameras and utterly gorgeous design, the Mate 10 Pro in particular is a fantastic phone

Attractive design ; Great battery life ; Excellent camera

No 3.5mm headphone jack (on the Pro)

Whatever your priorities, though, you’ll find the Mate 10 Pro a competitive, competent smartphone that’s been put together with a huge amount of care and attention. It’s a very good smartphone indeed, and well worth a Best Buy award.

This beautiful phone needs more oomph

A slow processor makes this attractive phone sometimes frustrating to use.

The Nokia 6's slick metal jacket looks great, givin this affordable phone the lustre of a more premium handset.

The underpowered processor makes the phone sometimes frustrating to use.

The sluggish performance of the Nokia 6 is a nuisance, but its low price and good looks go a long way to make up for it.

Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro review: Hands-on with Huawei’s chunky powerhouse

Big screen + big battery = big marketshare?

So, early impressions are very promising indeed and the price looks tempting, too. With the Mate 10 coming in at €699, it undercuts most of its big-screened competition by a considerable margin. The Pro is a less-tempting €799 at launch.
