Huawei P Smart 2019: A great Android option for under £200

The Huawei P Smart 2019 is the latest in a growing line of capable, affordable handsets from the Chinese tech giant and it's another tempting offering.

Robust camera experience;Feature-rich software;Affordable

Poor earpiece speaker placement;Fingerprint-prone plastic build;microUSB is now dated

Vodafone Smart

Can a phone be too cheap for its own good?

Dead cheap ; Capacitive touchscreen

Small, low-res screen ; Low-end processor ; Rubbish camera

Like almost all budget smartphones, the selection of sockets and buttons on its sides features the basics only. There's a volume rocker on the right edge, the power and headphone jack up top and the microUSB charge/transfer socket on its bottom. The...

Huawei P Smart review: Smart design lacks performance to match

Compared to flagship phones, the Huawei P Smart leaves some things to be desired. Improvements are needed in the battery life and performance

Solid and stylish design ; Screen is natural and crisp ; EMUI software is becoming far more pleasant to use ; Well-placed fingerprint scanner for rapid login ; 3.5mm headphone jack

Can stutter a little at times ; Struggles rendering full-resolution graphics ; Battery life should be better ; No fast-charging ; So-so cameras ; Honor 9 Lite makes more sense (and is cheaper)

Compared to flagship phones, the Huawei P Smart leaves some things to be desired. Improvements are needed in the battery life and performance department to make it an easy recommendation.

Huawei P Smart review

The P Smart offers an 18:9 screen for the budget buyer

Smart looks at the right price ; Background blur for both cameras ; Large 18:9 screen

Uses micro USB not USB-C ; Camera poor at night ; Occasional performance blips

The Huawei P Smart is a smart choice if you're after an affordable handset with a big 18:9 display, but you can get better performance and photos elsewhere.

Huawei P Smart review: Price cuts makes the P Smart a tasty proposition

The P Smart isn't a bad phone and this price drop makes the package even more appealing

Impressive 18:9 display ; Good build quality and design ; Inexpensive

Mediocre performance ; No dual-lens selfie camera ; Poor battery life

Unfortunately, Huawei seems to have shot itself in the foot by putting it up against the Honor 9 Lite. That phone – made by Huawei’s own subsidiary company – has a better selfie camera, plus a longer-lasting battery. It’s also arguably prettier, and...

Huawei P Smart Review: Familiar territory

Tempted by Vodafone's great value deals on the Huawei P Smart? We've fully tested this affordable smartphone, which boasts premium features and design work, for this in-depth Huawei P Smart review.

Long battery life ; Strong screen for media ; Decent camera for the price ; EMUI 8

Shaky video footage ; Occasionally janky performance ; Seen it all before

The Huawei P Smart is very similar to recent Honor handsets, meaning that it feels all too familiar. However, just as we loved those Honors, the P Smart also proves itself a great value smartphone, packing some sleek design, decent camera tech, awesome...

The Huawei machine continues to roll on, the Huawei P Smart being one of the cheapest smartphone handsets the Chinese giant has to offer in 2018. For a comparatively meagre outlay you get a massive display, dual rear cameras, a fingerprint scanner and...

Huawei P Smart Smartphone Review

How exactly is the Huawei P Smart smart? Why did we not think of that? Choosing 'smart' as a name for a smartphone is just as in-your-face as naming a soccer team 'the team'. And it inadvertently raises the question: what exactly does 'smart' really mean?

adequate performance ; Android 8 ; latest version of EMUI ; dual SIM ; decent screen to body ratio ; splitscreen ; fingerprint reader with additional functionalities ; dual main camera with bokeh effect ; selfies with bokeh effect ; DisplayPort ; headset

lacks important 3G and 4G LTE bands (particularly those used in the United States) ; no ac-Wi-Fi ; mono speaker ; no USB-C ; poor stamina ; rear-facing fingerprint reader unusable with phone place flat down on table ; case susceptible to fingerprints

The Huawei P Smart is like an image campaign for mid-range smartphones. Its relevant hardware specifications such as CPU, GPU, or cellular capabilities equal those of other mid-range smartphones such as the P8 Lite, Mate 10 Lite, and Honor 9 Lite. The...
