LG BL40 Chocolate

With its 21:9 ratio, ultra wide 4in display, this phone certainly looks distinctive but is it actually worth buying?

LG BL40

The LG LB40 appears fantastic in the flesh but it's flawed in practice

Colourful, detailed images; 21:9 ratio looks neat; balanced sound; 3.5mm jack

Sluggish to operate; temperamental touch screen; sounds dynamically flat; pocket unfriendly

Unintuitive interface Our main gripe doesn't lie here, but with the frustrating interface. The touchscreen is unresponsive and the phone is sluggish when flicking between menus.

LG BL40 Chocolate

The LG Chocolate BL40 is a beautiful handset. It's an irrefutable fact. Its shape is unique, its colours striking and it's one of the few phones these days that gets more ooohs and aaahs than a certain other touchscreen device that's somewhat taken...

Fantastic form factor, beautiful touchscreen, completely orginal handset

The operating system completely drags the whole thing down

If you have never used an LG phone, then make sure you try the BL40 out in the shops for a good 10 minutes before you decide it's the one for you. A quick blast around the front of the UI and a go on the browser should be enough to find out whether...

Will LG's second-gen Chocolate taste sweet success with its 21:9 cinema screen viewing and smooth 4in touchscreen?

Great for watching movies on the move, but a fiddly interface and over-long form factor make it an awkward customer

LG BL40 Chocolate review

LG's new Chocolate is the latest addition to its Black Label line. But is it any good?

Great looking chassis ; High res and contrast screen ; Improved touch accuracy ; Sleek and glassy design ; Decent camera

Poor battery life ; Dual screen UI not used enough ; Slight lag in the UI on a number of occasions ; Menu and back button layout is frustrating

A solid effort and probably LG's best phone so far. Might not appeal to all but definitely a step in the right direction.

LG Chocolate BL40 review

Tall and thin, the LG Chocolate BL40 resembles an older-style chocolate bar - perhaps the Wonka Bars from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Though there is no golden ticket here, unwrapping the Chocolate BL40 is a largely pleasant experience, though...

LG's Chocolate BL40 boasts excellent build quality and a flashy, if unconventional, design. The interface does have its issues and the oddly-shaped design does take a while to grasp, but it has plenty of features.

LG Chocolate BL40 Review

The new Chocolate phone is a surprising shape – more Dairy Milk king size than Toffee Crisp thanks to its super-wide screen. That screen looks great, too: vivid, bright and colour-rich. And it comes…

New Chocolate (BL40) Mobile Phone

The New Chocolate BL40 mobile telephone elicits its special aesthetics from the timeless design of the Black Label Series, combined with an enormous 4.0” touchscreen in 21:9 widescreen format. This makes it possible to display entire web pages, thus...

LG Chocolate BL40 review -

The four-inch 21:9 high-def LCD screen makes for a spectacular viewing experience

With only 1.1GB of internal memory, for a multimedia phone we expected LG to include an additional memory card

LG Chocolate BL40 mobile phone

It seems apt to be pondering the pros and cons of watching films on a small screen on the very day that Apple has released its 10-inch iPad. I have always been amused by seeing fellow commuters on the tube squinting to watch a film on their iPhone.

The screen resolution is fantastic and the 21: 9 "cinematic" aspect ratio does make watching content more bearable

The touchscreen technology is temperamental
