Google Nexus 5

Over the past few months It's been very difficult to log onto a tech site or forum without hearing about Google's fabled 2015 Nexus 5. According to industry rumblings the 2015 Nexus 5 will be built by LG, the same company that built the original 2013...

Excellent value ; Great performance ; Decent low-light camera performance ; Excellent screen

Non-expandable memory ; Camera tends to overexpose ; Mediocre battery life

Can the Google Nexus 5 trump the excellent Nexus 4?

Incredible display ; Android KitKat ; That price tag

Average camera ; OK storage

Google Nexus 5

A decent all-rounder that remains a steal, but now left behind by new arrivals

Clear, sharp screen ; Engaging sound ; Super-slick OS ; A price tag that’ll give you whiplash

Fiddly, fussy camera needs improvement ; Sound lags behind that of most rivals

The Nexus 5 finally bows down to more advanced rivals after a lengthy stint as one of our favourite smartphones. It's no surprise: 2014's newcomers have been mightily impressive so far, upping the game in both specs and design.

LG's new Nexus powerhouse set to be hi-spec Marshmallow mobile

LG hasn’t forgotten avid smartphone shooters with its Nexus 5, at least according to current leaks: the snap we mentioned earlier of the all-white Nexus points towards the new 5 carrying the same laser autofocus sensor as the G4 – and that’s no bad...

Nexus 5 review

For many Android fans, the Nexus line is the ultimate expression of Google's mobile ambitions: affordable, powerful and unfettered with manufacturer customisation, the Nexus offers the purest Google Android experience you'll find. It's no surprise,...

Value for money, display, lots of power, Android KitKat brings some exciting new elements

Camera performance leaves a little to be desired, battery performance could be better, the design and build might divide opinion

There's a lot packed into the Nexus 5, particularly given the £299 and £339 pricepoints for 16GB and 32GB respectively. For that money, you get a display that rivals devices that cost some £200 more, and a chipset that is, in many cases, more powerful....

Google Nexus 5 review

Google's Nexus 5 is here with the scarily clever Android 4.4 KitKat and specs to match. But will it be a Nexus Chainsaw Massacre of the £500 flagships? [UPDATE: now with 4.4.1 camera update and video]

That sub-£300 price ; Powerful, scarily clever KitKat ; Sexy screen

Sub-par battery life ; Camera needs improvements

The future of Google in a gorgeous package makes this by far the best phone on a budget

Nexus 5 review: Now Marshmallow flavoured

The Nexus 5 is still a great phone for the money, if you can find one

There is some stiffer competition around these days though. The Nexus 5 is showing its age, at more than two years old, so the Nexus 5X that replaced it is a much better purchase unless you find the Nexus 5 particularly cheap, which might be tricky....

Google Nexus 5 review UK

Google and LG have done a fantastic job with the Nexus 5, producing a very desirable phone at an outrageously low price. It's the best value-for-money smartphone out there right now. Note: Google is set to launch the Nexus 5X on 29 September.

Google Nexus 5 review

The Google Nexus 5 does almost everything right for a very reasonable price

The Google Nexus 5’s only drawback is battery life; it managed just 7h 22m in our video playback test, which is three hours less than we expect to see from a modern smartphone. If you use your phone intensively, you'll need to top it up during the day....
