A budget phone to be certain, but a step up from the L7

Blazing speed on 4G ; Updated design ; Larger screen with higher resolution ; Quick Settings and QuickMemo are handy tools

Slower processor ; Camera isn't as good as previous version ; Tons of bloatware ; No date on Jelly Bean update

LG Optimus L9 (MetroPCS)

The LG Optimus L9 is scarcely available, but if you can get it, it's the best MetroPCS smartphone that runs on T-Mobile's network right now.

The Optimus L9 has 1.68GB of free internal storage, along with an empty microSD card slot underneath the battery cover. My 32 and 64GB SanDisk cards worked fine. The phone was able to play all of our audio test files, and sound quality was excellent...

LG Optimus L9 Android phone

The LG Optimus has a large 4.7in, qHD display and an attractive and functional design

Large 4.7in IPS screen ; Decent battery life ; Attractive and functional design

Very reflective display ; Poor quality cameras

The LG Optimus L9 has a large 4.7in, qHD display and an attractive and functional design. It's only marred by a slightly sluggish user experience and a below average camera. At $399, the Optimus L9 represents reasonable value for money.

Limited internal memory ; No Australian ETA

The LG Optimus L9 offers a huge 4.7in IPS screen, a dual-core processor and a 5-megapixel camera. It forms part of the company's aggressively priced L-Style range, though there's no word yet on Australian ETA or availability.

LG Optimus L9 review: Living large

The Optimus L9 is the latest addition to the L-series and rightfully takes charge of a lineup that's known for attractive styling and wallet-friendly prices. It obviously made no sense to LG to start from scratch and the L9 is happily reusing bits and...

LG Optimus L9 review

As the biggest and most high-end device in LG's L-series of midrange phones, the LG Optimus L9 from T-Mobile and MetroPCS , delivers just the right amount of specs and performance that make it a solid consideration without being too ambitious.

The LG Optimus L9 has a snappy dual-core CPU, 4G, Android 4.0, and a 1080p HD camera.

The Optimus L9's battery drains quickly, it has a poor audio speaker, and it comes preloaded with too much bloatware.

The reasonable $80 price tag, dual-core processor, and Android 4.0, make the LG Optimus L9 a reliable midlevel handset.
