Motorola Defy XT (Republic Wireless)

Republic Wireless has an exciting service plan concept, but needs a better phone with more integrated services.

Only $19 per month for unlimited use. Makes phone calls over Wi-Fi and cellular networks.

Slow phone. Can't transition between cellular and Wi-Fi on a single call. So-so call quality.

Motorola Defy XT (U.S. Cellular) review

Because they're so portable, smartphones get placed in harm's way often, whether that's when careless users leave them out in the rain, pocket them next to sharp keys, or simply soak them with beverages by accident. One major drawback to durable phones...

The Motorola Defy XT 's attractive and compact chassis hides its rugged, dust- and water-resistant construction. At $99.99, it's also affordable.

Held back by an outdated processor, the Defy XT is slow, runs on 3G only, and has an unimpressive camera.

The Motorola Defy XT doesn't fear dust and water, but lacks the strength to power through smartphone tasks with speed.

Motorola Defy XT (U.S. Cellular)

The water-resistant, dustproof Motorola Defy XT for U.S. Cellular is good for a trip to the beach, but is otherwise best left on the shelf.

Water-resistant and dustproof. Comfortable size.

Old version of Android. No 4G. Short battery life. Strange paneling effect on display. Mediocre media playback.

Multimedia, Camera, and Conclusions There's a microSD card slot underneath the phone's back cover, which is covered by an additional rubber toggle. Motorola includes a 2GB card, and my 32GB and 64GB SanDisk cards worked fine as well. There's also 263MB...

Motorola Defy XT Review

The Defy series has been one of the best sellers for Motorola worldwide and also in the mid-level smartphone segment. Since it is the one of the few models for Moto that has being doing well it makes sense for them to keep upgrading the same and...

Priced at Rs. 15,100 the device is surely value for money as it offers a slimmer design profile along with additions like a secondary VGA camera, better speaker and 720p video recording over the Motorola Defy+. Though lack of ICS surely does hurt its...

Consumer review (cnet.com)

It functions, but just barely.

Does not consistently ring when calls come in, looses contacts arbitrarily without cause, outgoing voice quality is poor, poor user documentation. My lady says pitch it - very, very frustrating!

It makes calls alright, connects online and has a maping function.

There are too many to mention. Function is poor, documentation is poor.

Consumer review (cnet.com)

This is a sleek, fast, and very durable phone.

That's all! It's a good phone, though.

Everything besides the cons

The camera is average. There isn't much internal memory.
