Motorola Droid 3

Few companies get a second bite at the mobile cherry. Motorola took its initially awesome RAZR phone and flogged it until it wasn't just a dead horse but little more than neatly canned dog food. With the company's handset business on the brink of...

Very well made, first class QWERTY keyboard (plus Swype), nice photos and videos

Juddery screen, not 4G, blokey design

The Droid 3 is a perfectly respectable handset. It’s fast, solid and well made, with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard that’s one of the very best out there, and a good (if slow) camera. The 4-inch screen is large and colourful but do sample it alongside the...

Motorola Droid 3 review

There's no word yet on a UK release date for the Motorola Droid 3. It's available in the US for $200 on a two-year contract, and typically Motorola's 'Droid' series makes the trip over the pond a few months after release, usually with the 'Milestone'...

The Motorola Droid 3 is a disappointment. On paper, Motorola seems to have done everything right: The company put in a fast processor, a high-resolution display, and a great keyboard, and it even loaded the phone with Gingerbread. But when it came time...

Motorola Droid 3 review

The third installment of a trilogy is typically the most satisfying. The Empire Falls, Frodo destroys the ring, Cinderella goes back in time.

Excellent keyboard ; Dual-core CPU ; High-res qHD display

Boxy and bulky ; Subpar camera ; A few bugs

Review: Motorola Droid 3

The first two Droids were big hits. But in its latest incarnation, the Droid 3, Motorola's marquee smartphone really shines.

Large keyboard is comfortable enough for extended typing sessions. Useful predictive text suggestions make long messages a breeze. Lightly rubberized back provides a non-slip grip, as do the similarly rubberized keys

The 960 x 540 resolution screen looks nice, but it’s no Retina Display. Dynamic range during calls sounds a bit clipped and tinny, like the lower frequencies have been rolled off. No 4G LTE? For shame

Motorola Droid 3 (Verizon Wireless)

The Motorola Droid 3 is a good smartphone choice for globetrotters, but it can't hit Verizon's fastest network here at home.

Gorgeous screen. Long battery life. Works worldwide. Sharp 8-megapixel camera. Five-row keyboard.

No LTE. Android skin slows things down. HD video playback trouble. Some bugs.

I also ran into several bugs. The battery icon showed that the phone was charging when it was unplugged, and at one point, the camera showed a distorted screen image.

Motorola Droid 3 (Verizon Wireless) review

For better or worse, the lifespan of smartphones is decreasing. Barely a year old and the Motorola Droid 2 is already getting replaced by the Motorola Droid 3, which is available now from Verizon Wireless for $199.99 with a two-year contract. Though it...

The Motorola Droid 3 features an excellent five-row QWERTY keyboard. The next-gen Droid also offers the latest Gingerbread software, a dual-core processor, and an upgraded 8-megapixel camera.

The Droid 3 lacks 4G. Compared with the competition, the smartphone's qHD display isn't that sharp and performance isn't as snappy. Call and picture quality could be better.

For Verizon customers who crave physical keyboards, the Motorola Droid 3 offers an excellent one, but the rest of the Android smartphone's improvements fail to impress.

Motorola Droid 3 Review: Specs Aren't Everything

As an example of the truism that specs don't always matter, the Droid 3 is it. On paper, this heir to Verizon's Motorola Droid line ($200 with a new 2-year contract as of 7/15/2011) sounded extremely promising: It has a dual-core processor, a...

Nice big keyboard ; Ships with Gingerbread

Poor camera ; Way too much bloatware ; Stock applications were unstable

Keyboard aside, Motorola's latest Droid feels more like a step backwards than it does forward.

Motorola Droid 3 Review - Third Time's a Charm

If ever a product has summed up the progression of the Android ecosystem, it's the Motorola Droid. The first Droid catapulted Android into the mainstream with its first 2.x release, and since then the Droid itself has seen a yearly update cadence that...
