Moto E4 review

Who knew the low-end could be so good?

Slick design ; Android Nougat pre-installed ; Fingerprint sensor ; Unbeatable value

US version isn't all-metal like the UK's ; Performance won't be enough for some

The Moto E4 raises the bar for phones hovering around the $100 mark. Complete with a fingerprint sensor, Android Nougat, a swappable battery and reliable performance, this phone gets its kicks by surprising the user at nearly every turn. A must-buy for...

Motorola Moto E4 Review: A brilliant budget blower

Packing some surprising specs for a low price, the Moto E4 from Motorola is one of the best value smartphones we've reviewed in some time....

Metal finish ; Satisfying UI ; Sharp display

Limited performance ; Basic camera

The Moto E4 delivers solid value for money, coming in cheaper than pretty much any other mobile by a well-known manufacturer. Despite that low asking price you still get HD visuals, a neat metal design, dependable battery life and performance that...

Moto E4 review: Is this the best budget smartphone since the Lenovo P2?

Motorola's Moto E4 is the perfect marriage of performance and design, in a wallet-pleasing package

Stellar design ; Camera is better than expected ; Budget price

Performance is middling

For the price, Motorola’s Moto E4 is a very impressive smartphone. Its performance might be middling, and the camera has its limitations, but overall it’s an attractive and capable handset with no really serious shortcomings.

Motorola Moto E4 review

Motorola makes wonderful budget phones like the Moto G5 and the G5 Plus . Its newest addition is the Moto E4 which packs a lot of features: Android Nougat 7.1, a fingerprint sensor, a removeable battery and a selfie flash all within a body the size of...

The Moto E4 has a near stock version of Android Nougat, a fingerprint reader, a removeable battery, a selfie flash and is splash resistant -- all while being ridiculously cheap.

The display is hard to see in sunlight and the camera is slow to process photos.

The Moto E4 is the cheapest Motorola phone but doesn't compromise too much on its amenities.

Review: Motorola Moto E4

The new Motorola Moto E4 is a bit of a nostalgia job. It is reminiscent of the first generation Moto X, a device that brought a lot of innovation, customization and laid the foundation for what Motorola has become as an Android OEM that can...

Since the Moto G5 has moved up a step (in price as well), the Moto E4 goes up a few rungs as a great and sensible budget or pre-paid solution with even fewer compromises, this should make anyone shopping for a budget 4G-capable smartphone with the...

Moto E4 Android smartphone review

For $130 unlocked, you won't find a better deal on a smartphone with the latest version of Android.

Just how good can a $130 phone be?

The Motorola Moto E4 gives you the best features of any super-budget phone.

The Moto E4 has a near stock version of Android Nougat, a fingerprint reader, a removeable battery, a selfie flash and is splash resistant -- all while being ridiculously cheap.

The display is hard to see in sunlight and the camera is slow to process photos.

Motorola Moto E4

The Android-powered Motorola Moto E4 offers smooth performance and lots of features for a bargain price.

Highly affordable. Current software. Fingerprint sensor, dual-band Wi-Fi, removable battery, and expandable storage. Smooth performance.

Mediocre camera. Limited internal storage.

For $130 unlocked (and $70 on Verizon), the Motorola Moto E4 is solid phone for a reasonable price. The Blu R1 HD will cost you a bit less, but it's not quite as fast and runs an old version of Android, not to mention it doesn't have dual-band Wi-Fi or...

Motorola Moto E4 Smartphone Review

Removable. In this case we mean it in a positive way, since the battery can be removed in the Moto E4. The smartphone is also quite affordable and offers a fingerprint sensor. You can find out in the test whether the competition needs to brace for this.

removable battery ; dedicated microSD slot ; not sensitive to pressure ; quite a lot of LTE bands ; fingerprint sensor ; pure Android ; bright display, good contrast ; hardly warms up ; decent voice quality

cover is very tight ; back cover bends easily ; outdated security patches ; slow WLAN ; quite inaccurate GPS ; camera images blurry in parts ; high power consumption

The Moto E4 is an affordable smartphone that offers some highlights, such as a fingerprint sensor, pure Android, and removable battery. If you don't consider the camera the most important feature in a smartphone or depend on exact navigation, then you...

Moto E4 Review: Verizon’s best cheap phone

This week the Motorola-made Moto E4 for Verizon is on our review desk, and things are looking up. This device is one of the lowest-cost Motorola smartphones ever made, made to take the place of the Moto G as king of the budget smartphones. Where the...

Low cost ; Fingerprint scanner ; High quality build ; Fairly decent camera (for the cost) ; Latest version of Android

Display is 720p ; Unlikely there'll be 3rd-party cases ; No NFC

*This is the sort of smartphone that a person gets when they’ve never used a smartphone before. Or if they’ve only used a Windows Phone device before – or an iPhone 4 or older. If a person has a smartphone they’ve used for the past 6 years and they...
