Nokia goes big on specs, but can Windows Phone 8 keep up?

Great 1080p display ; Fine camera ; Solid build quality ; Surprisingly slim

Arguably too big ; WP8 feels unoptimised ; Lack of apps ; Lack of video store

This phone is more power than precision, and it's a mammoth beast - but with a scaled up core and more icons, we do like the direction its poking Windows Phone into.

Switching connections on and off is a pain, might be too big for some, could be missing a few apps you want

The Nokia Lumia 1520 has to be the best Windows Phone 8 handset on the market. It's certainly the best Lumia we've used to date. That's not just thanks to the reassuringly high quality build, but also thanks to the new Black OS.

If you're in denial about 'phablets' then take a look at the Lumia 1520. With a 6in screen the handset has one inch on most flagship smartphone and is only the same amount smaller than tablets like the Nexus 7 and Tesco Hudl.

The Nokia Lumia 1520 has got so many things right including build quality, a great camera and a good looking screen. It's the best Windows Phone yet but software is still lacking and we just wish the darn thing was smaller because it's severely off...
