Qtek 8500 review

A bright and cheerful phone for the quieter user

Good call signal and stylish to look at

Struggles with the operating system ; Somewhat lacking in features such as email

A phone that doesn't offer much beyond style and ease of use

QTEK 8500 Review

Out of all the colours we could have been given for a review version we ended up with the Pink version - which is not our favourite colour - but ...

The QTEK 8500 is a stylish phone (even in Pink) that would be useful as a spare or for a PAYG sim. Its a pity that the unit is let down by poor battery life and limited memory.

Qtek 8500 review

The photos themselves are stored in JPG format, the videos being MP4. The camera mode is also automatically suspended if not used, to save on battery life

It’s a great phone, and a great prize. While it has its problems – the usb connector being a MASSIVE inconvenience, it look good, lasts days without charge, and feels expensive, and well built. I’m really quite surprised that the device isn't more...

Qtek 8500 Review

HTC has launched earlier this year the new Qtek 8500 smartphone, aka the HTC StrTrk, Star Trek, Star100, I-mate Smartflip or Dopod S300. The new Windows Mobile 5.0 smartphone was released under the Qtek brand, a brand used by HTC for naming its...

The best thing about the Qtek 8500 has to be its innovative clamshell design for a Windows Mobile 5.0 enabled smartphone. No one can deny the fact that HTC has managed to put in a very stylish design, comparable with RAZR models from Motorola. This is...

One of the annoying things could be the microSD memory card slot, which is located under the battery cover, underneath the SIM card slot. Of course, this can be solved very easily if you buy a large enough memory so you won't be forced to change it...

QTEK 8500

Before I begin, this review has been a long time coming; I'll explain in due course…

A really good, well constructed, well thought out, connected phone

Radio reception is sub-par on the QTEK version

I've dragged this out as long as I could in the hope that there would be a resolution to the radio problem. This is a great phone; performance, design, feel; it's all top notch but what if you want to use it as a phone; if so it's a sub-par device with...
