Samsung SGH-A717

The Samsung A717, with its swiveling camera, lets you rock tunes or video-chat with friends and loved ones.

Slim and handsome. Good for e-mail and Web browsing. New Video Share feature.

Very small external screen and smaller keypad than on the Samsung Sync. Earpiece and speakerphone lack volume.

Samsung SGH-A717 (AT&T) review

AT&T's new Samsung SGH-A717 has a lot in common with another AT&T cell phone, the Samsung SGH-A727 . Not only did the two devices land at the carrier on the same day, but they also didn't strike any new ground in the design department. While the...

The Samsung SGH-A717 has decent call quality and a speedy Web connection. It also offers a diverse range of features, including world phone support, 3G compatibility, a 2-megapixel camera, and Bluetooth.

The Samsung SGH-A717 has a tiny external display, a flat keypad, and average streaming-video quality. Also, it lacks a camera flash and it doesn't come with the necessary USB cable for PC syncing.

The Samsung SGH-A717 offers an admirable feature set and good call quality. We'd just like to clear up a couple of design issues.

Samsung SGH-A717

Since its inception in 2004, the Motorola RAZR has been the phone to beat. While numerous companies have tried to cash in on making a phone that is capable of dealing with the popularity of the RAZR, many have failed. However, Samsung is now ready to...

Slick design ; 3G capable ; Media player with expandable memory ; Giant LCD screen with lots of media centric features ; Solid Samsung construction ; Small and light form factor

No Wi-Fi capability ; Somewhat short battery life ; May not be as visually appealing as the RAZR to some ; Speaker volume is somewhat low

While some may like the design of the RAZR better than the Samsung SGH-A717, there is no doubt that the Samsung model is certainly the superior phone, and should be highly considered if you are looking for a high quality RAZR-like cellular device. The...
