Samsung Rugby 3 review

Built for durability and outdoor work, the Samsung Rugby 3 is a sturdy clamshell cell phone. It features AT&T's enhanced push-to-talk and noise suppression, and it comes with large, responsive, and widely-spaced buttons that make it possible to hit...

The Samsung Rugby 3 has a terrifically responsive dial pad and enhanced push-to-talk support.

Audio quality was subpar, the shared headset/charger jack is inconvenient, and for a durable phone, the body could be grippier.

Very poor call quality is especially unacceptable on a simple cell phone. Unless you require AT&T's push-to-talk service, keep looking.

Samsung Rugby III Review

Traditionally Nextel and Motorola come to mind when thinking of a ruggedized phone, but both Verizon and AT&T have tried their hands at the market with the Casio G'zOne and Samsung Rugby families, respectively. AT&T's latest Rugby, the aptly-named and...

Good speakerphone ; Improved battery life

Hard, plastic case is not conducive to a ruggedized device ; Our unit was not able to survive the water submersion test

The Samsung Rugby III isn’t a sleek phone, nor is it a smart phone. It is intended to be a big, rugged device that can withstand rough environments. While it performed as expected as a phone, it unfortunately was not able to meet the advertised...

Review: Samsung Rugby III for AT&T

Samsung's rugged Rugby line for AT&T goes old-school with this early-oughts throw-back flip. The Rugby III may not be a svelte stunner, but it is a tough telephone.

"Great basic phone"

Despite what the reviewer says here, I've had great call quality. Of course, I'm coming from a smart phone, so maybe my opinion is a bit skewed. But I also had a land line until recently and it compares pretty favorably to that experience, so I guess...

Phenomenal battery life, nice clear calls, easy to use number pad

Software is pretty terrible to adequate

"Hardware rocks, software sucks"

This is my 4th Samsung flip-top, and the others were all more advanced, even though they were much older models. This is the first time I have been disappointed in a Samsung product. If need a rugged phone for voice calls while you're on a construction...

The phone is solid and the battery life is excellent. Overall the hardware is pretty good, the keypad is better than most flip-tops.

The software is bordering on pathetic.

"not very rugged. far below par of previous versions."

The new design lacks the original's toughness. Will not recommend it if you use it above just general use. Unlike the original, you will have to buy a protective case to insure it is safe. I do not recommend for industrial or moderate working environment.

smaller and ease of operation. Screen well lit and easy to see.

Falls well below par if compared with the ruggedness of the original. Hard to hold when using it. Push to talk function still cannot be shut off.

"I love this phone!"

I purchased this phone today and I really love it. I do not want or need a smart phone right now and I wanted something that was durable with all physical buttons on it. I also wanted something that had a louder ringer volume than my previous phones,...

extremely durable

" The Samsung Rugby is a very good, very reliable basic phone and as advertised it can take a lot of punishment. I lost my Rugby on my Alberta pastureland in 05/2014. My neighbour found it in 5/2015. The phone had been outside exactly 1 year through...
