Samsung Galaxy Europa GT-i5500

Samsung's Galaxy Europa has an attractively low price tag, but is it much cop? We check it out.

Samsung Galaxy Europa i5500 review

Have we finally got a decent low cost Android smartphone?

Reponsive screen ; Good battery life ; Decent included apps ; Good Twitter and Facebook integration ; Unobtrusive Android skinning

Too many buttons ; Screen too small for media rich activities ; Camera could be better ; No QWERTY keyboard in portrait mode ; Measly 1GB microSD card supplied

The Galaxy Europa i5500 is another small format Android handset, running Android 2.1 but also packing in a much more pocket-friendly price.

Samsung - Galaxy Europa i5500

The Galaxy Europa i5500 is one of a number of Android based handsets in Samsung's portfolio. While the Galaxy S, which costs way over £400, sits at the top of Samsung's Android handset tree, the Galaxy ...

The Samsung Galaxy Europa i5500 is an impressive handset considering its price. The camera is poor, and the absence of multi touch support is disappointing, but overall if your budget is around £200 and you want Android, you could do a lot worse.

Samsung Galaxy Europa review

The best 2.8-inch touch only Android phone so far, but that's not saying much

Built to bounce, Swype is a revelation here

Resistive screen, poor Wi-Fi reception

Samsung Galaxy Europa i5500

When I first popped the Samsung Galaxy Europa out of the box, it immediately put a smile on my face. It is pleasantly chunky looking with a nice blend of black and chrome, plus a curvaceous back that adds to the elegance. In short, it's a nice looking...

Stylish all-rounder, cheap, feels good in the hand

Not a great screen, pointless buttons

Overall though, I'll definitely give the Galaxy Europa the thumbs up. Samsung has really got the hang of Android now and this handset shows you can make successful smartphones at the cheaper end of the market that are still fully functioned, if not...

Samsung Galaxy 5 Android smartphone

Not to be confused with the flagship Samsung Galaxy S, the Galaxy 5 smartphone is an entry-level prepaid smartphone. Excusive to Telstra and retailing...

Capacitive touchscreen ; Loses minimal capabilities of more expensive devices ; Swype text input

Glossy finish ; Low resolution display ; Poor camera

The Samsung Galaxy 5 is the cheapest Android smartphone currently available in Australia. The reasonably stylish Galaxy 5 has most of the capabilities of more expensive devices, though its low res display and mediocre camera aren't impressive. At this...

Samsung I5500 Galaxy 5 review: Corby with brains

Don't know what Android is? Don't sweat it. Prepare to want one. The Samsung I5500 Galaxy 5 looks like a Corby, but walks and talks like a smartphone. More importantly though, it's got no problem finding an audience to talk to. With so many Corby...

Quad-band GSM/EDGE, UMTS 900/2100, HSDPA 7.2 Mbps ; 2.8" capacitive TFT touchscreen of QVGA resolution, 16M colors ; Android OS v2.1 Eclair ; 600 MHz processor ; 170 MB onboard storage, microSD card slot (up to 16GB), 1GB card included ; 2 megapixel...

Small QVGA screen: not to good for browsing, limited choice of apps ; No multi-touch support ; Poor still imaging and video recording ; No DivX video support ; microSD slot under the battery cover ; No dedicated camera key ; No secondary video-call camera

The Samsung I5500 Galaxy 5 is the future. OK, now, take your time. Laugh it up. But it looks like the term smartphone is about to become meaningless. It won’t be too long before they are all just phones again – like in the good old times. The Samsung...

Samsung Galaxy 5 Review

The hardware of the Samsung Galaxy 5 is low-end, but don't be fooled by that – it masks a device with all modern connectivity options and Android 2.1 for a rock bottom price. Hopefully this will lure you enough to read on if you are interested in a...
