Samsung Galaxy J5 review: The budget all-rounder review

PROS: ; Vibrant AMOLED display ; front flash ; expandable up-to 128GB ; 4G capability with both SIMs

CONS: ; Battery back-up could have been better ; old design ; slippery ; low internal memory

Verdict Samsung Galaxy J5 may not be the ultimate budget smartphone but the value it offers at 12k is simply great.

Samsung Galaxy J5 Review: In Depth

Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016) Review: One of Samsung's latest budget mobiles, the J5 is a rival to the Moto G & a solid smartphone for just £150 SIM-free.

Solid battery life ; Strong display for the price ; Decent cameras

Old Android

At this price, the Galaxy J5 is a very strong rival for the Moto G and other cut-price handsets. It’s a solid all-rounder, offering dependable performance and excellent battery life as well as some brilliant camera tech. We prefer the vanilla Android...

Samsung Galaxy J5 review (2017): An updated, improved and highly desirable budget smartphone

While the Galaxy S9 dominates the premium smartphone market, Samsung's updated Galaxy J5 remains a low-cost marvel

Great performance for the price ; Much improved camera ; Flagship-like design

Significant price hike

The only issue is that price hike. For £140, last year’s J5 felt like a real bargain, despite its limitations. The new Galaxy J5 is a stronger phone in almost every way, but at £240 we’re starting to creep towards OnePlus territory, and that’s a fight...

Samsung Galaxy J5 review

Samsung Galaxy J5 review: A great budget handset in its day, but hold out for the 2017 refresh

The Samsung Galaxy J5 is a real surprise package, giving the mighty Moto G a run for its money

It’s a shame to end on the slight downer of the camera because it’s the only area where the Samsung Galaxy J5 puts a foot wrong as far as I’m concerned. Usually, when I’ve reviewed a budget handset, I’m extremely eager to get back to my own phone, but...

Samsung Galaxy J5 Smartphone Review

Recycling. You have a déjà-vu experience when you open the box of the Galaxy J5, because Samsung uses the old chassis design. Although the components are fairly standard, the manufacturer has integrated a flash at the front for selfie fans.

sturdy chassis, long battery runtimes, good Super-AMOLED screen, replaceable battery, microSD-slot, good GPS module, LTE

very long charging time, chassis completely made of plastic, small internal storage, bad speaker, only 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, no light sensor

The second device from Samsung's Galaxy J series, the Galaxy J5, is a decent 5-inch smartphone. The highlight is the Super-AMOLED display. It only features the HD resolution, but can impress with rich colors, a great contrast and very good viewing...

Samsung Galaxy J5 Review

Samsung Galaxy J5 is a budget smartphone that has fast, simple interface and brand-grade hardware at Rs 11,999.

• Good Build Quality ; • Perfect screen size for easy use ; • Loaded with new TouchWiz interface ; • No heating issues

• Camera isn’t impressive ; • Low internal storage ; • No notification LED

Breaking away from gimmicks, Samsung has finally produced a budget smartphone that has fast and simple interface and brand-grade hardware to boast. Despite certain deficiencies – like low storage which kills its gaming aspect, average camera and rare...

Samsung Galaxy J5 review

Samsung's affordable and popular Galaxy J5 is a mid-range smartphone with a very attractive slimline design and good performance. Its best features are its impressive HD AMOLED screen, decent camera and outstanding battery life.

The price of the Samsung J5 is competitive, and it does what a mid-range smartphone ought to do, without any nasty surprises, making it a very safe choice. Asked by Alice Salt from Leeds on 20th Nov 2017 It comes in three different colours and it is...

Samsung Galaxy J5 Review: Full In-Depth Hands-On

So should you get the Samsung Galaxy J5? The good things about the device are first the support for 4G connectivity, second would be the sound output (although it isn’t the loudest), third the latest android experience and finally the front LED flash....
