ACE SPH-I325

At first glance you might mistake the Samsung Ace SPH-i325 ($300 with a two-year contract from Sprint, as of 4/11/08) for a Samsung BlackJack II: Both PDA phones sport the same sleek, slightly square black body with a full QWERTY keyboard. Unlike the...

Lightweight, comfortable design Quickly and easily syncs with Outlook

Overall sound quality is mediocre Lacks some business features

The Samsung Ace is a highly functional and moderately priced application/entertainment handset rather than a solid day-to-day communication and business device. That said, if you find yourself on the road, bored and tired of people-watching at the...

Samsung Ace (SPH-i325)

If the Samsung Ace were a little faster or more polished, it could be a killer option for globe-trotting Sprint users. But there are better options for Sprint users both at home and abroad.

Excellent keyboard. Roams to Europe.

No text messaging in GSM mode. Feels slow. Data overseas is very expensive. ; Watch the Samsung Ace Video Review!

Samsung Ace SPH-i325 (Sprint) review: Samsung Ace SPH-i325 (Sprint)

Good news for any globe-trotting Sprint customers: You now have a choice when it comes world-roaming smartphones. Joining the RIM BlackBerry 8830 World Edition , the Samsung Ace SPH-i325 offers dual-mode functionality for seamless international roaming...

The Samsung Ace for Sprint offers dual-mode functionality for world-roaming, and it's unlocked for use with international SIM cards. The Windows Mobile smartphone has a compact design and features a 1.3-megapixel camera, EV-DO, and Bluetooth.

General performance can be sluggish at times. It doesn't support overseas 3G GSM networks and lacks Wi-Fi and GPS.

For Sprint customers looking for a world-roaming smartphone, the Samsung Ace is a nice and compact alternative to the RIM BlackBerry 8830.

Review: Samsung SPH-i325 Ace (Sprint)

The Samsung Ace is the first Windows Mobile Standard device since the release of the fondly remembered Pocket PC Smartphone powered i600 on Sprint. How does it stack up against incumbents such as the Q9c and other similar devices on the Now Network?

Samsung SPH-i325 ACE

WHAT'S HOT The coolest thing about the Sprint ACE is that it's the first dual-mode Windows Mobile smartphone available. That means it supports

First Dual-Mode CDMA & GSM Windows Mobile phone in North America ; High Speed 3G EVDO internet access ; Sprint TV service lets you watch some nice streaming video content ; Includes Microsoft...

Only supports 900/1800 GSM bands ; Only supports GPRS on GSM bands ; No GPS ; No WiFi ; E" key is not recognized in the phone dialer ; Does not include Windows...

While this is the first Windows Mobile phone to have dual mode CDMA and GSM capabilities, the implementation is not very impressive. There's no GPS or WiFi and the ACE...

Samsung Ace SPH-i325 Review

Adama D. Brown brings us this review of the Samsung Ace, a new Windows Mobile smartphone from Sprint that that, unlike most of this telecom's offerings, can be used in the United States and around the world.

Solid design ; Well built ; Fast processor ; GSM for international roaming

Not enough memory ; No MicroSDHC support ; New proprietary connector

While the Ace doesn’t have any break-out features that would make it a must have, it does build on a solid and well-made design, and delivers fast connectivity in a slim package. With the relative flop of Motorola’s recent updates to their original Q...
