Review: Sanyo Katana DLX

Sanyo's newest weapon in the mobile phone wars has a decidedly old-fashioned design. Looks aside, it's a passable multimedia phone: The interface is efficient, and...

Easy-to-carry, 0.6-inch-thick design. Sharp QVGA screen. Sensible button layout. Keys have nice bounce. Included 128-MB microSD card is better than nothing

Kinda fugly. Uninspiring build quality. Mediocre 1.3-megapixel camera. No external music controls. Rather pricey considering what you actually get

Sanyo Katana DLX 8500 review: Sanyo Katana DLX 8500

Sanyo Katana DLX 8500

The Sanyo Katana DLX has an attractive and slender flip-phone design, plus an impressive multimedia feature set with good sound quality.

The Sanyo Katana DLX has skinny side buttons, and the speakerphone quality was so-so. We also would've liked external music player controls.

The Sanyo Katana DLX is the best Sanyo cell phone to date, with a fashionable design, plenty of features, and good performance.

Sanyo Katana DLX Review: A Great Phone With Strange Design Flaws

Clearly above-average sound quality, Above-average speakerphone performance, Battery life lives up to advertised rating

Keypad is below-average: The semi-spongy plastic keys are almost flush with the frame, Charging and data port combo connector is on the side, not convenient for talking while charging, The volume control keys are too thin and located on the flip cover,...

The Sanyo Katana DLX is lightweight and its basics are above average. Putting aside a few minor design issues, the Katana DLX is a great cell phone for everybody.

Sanyo Katana-DLX

Most cell phone companies like to name their phones very nondescriptly. Take a look at phones like the HTC Touch or the Nokia N95. Bland and boring. Sanyo, a company not exactly known for producing high quality phones, however, has a different plan of...

Attractive design and a cool name ; Nice feature set for a mid-low end phone ; 3G support

Battery life is somewhat sub-par

If you can get a deal on this phone, the Sanyo Katana-DLX is a great investment. It has a variety of useful features and looks pretty cool.
