Sharp Aquos Crystal review

A sophisticated budget smartphone – from a distance

Futuristic look ; Nearly bezel-free display ; Good price

Weird front lens placing ; Plastic screen ; Feels hollow ; Little storage

Sharp's first smartphone for the US looks like a fresh new flagship, but its budget leanings come through on first touch.

Sharp Aquos Crystal (Boost Mobile) review

It's been a very long time since we've seen a phone come out of Sharp's pipeline. So when the Japanese-based company announced its Aquos Crystal, I was not only surprised that Sharp released a new handset, but that said handset also had a wow factor...

Boost Mobile's Sharp Aquos Crystal has an affordable price tag, a decent camera, and above all, a bold bezel-less design.

You can't remove the Crystal's battery, and its in-ear audio quality is mediocre with calls sounding hollow and thin.

Don't fret about the unremarkable features -- the Sharp Aquos Crystal is a great buy with a compelling edgeless display that renders it unlike any phone currently on the market.

Sharp's Aquos Crystal concentrates on design with an edgeless screen

This funky looking phone is the first to use Sharp's Aquos display and comes to Sprint soon.

Sharp Aquos Crystal: The future of smartphones looks like this [REVIEW]

The Aquos Crystal is a good deal, so long as you don't care about taking pretty pictures.

Bezel-less display on three sides ; Harman Kardon Clari-Fi audio boost is nice ; Good battery life

Display edges have almost no protection ; Mediocre front and rear cameras ; Direct Wave Receiver sound isn't very clear

The Sharp Aquos Crystal is a sleek smartphone with a display that looks like it came straight out of Star Wars, however, its display durability is questionable and the cameras on the front and back are just awful.

Sharp Aquos Crystal review

Its intriguing design makes the Sharp Aquos Crystal a true standout in a world full of look-a-like smartphones. It's just too bad Sharp compromised on the specs.

Overall, the Sprint exclusive Aquos Crystal looks like a powerful, mid-range Android phone. Even though it may not have the most high-end specs available, it’s still a nice device.

Sharp AQUOS Crystal review: mid-range brains meet striking looks

Pop quiz, hotshot: When's the last time you saw a Sharp phone in the United States? The Sharp FX from years back? Maybe the FX Plus? If you're anything l

Striking bezel-less screen ; Decent performer ; Above-average battery life ; Can be had for a low price

Both cameras are mediocre ; Lots of bloatware ; Exclusive to Sprint and its MVNOs

The AQUOS Crystal is Sharp's first phone to land in the US in ages, and it's a looker thanks to that amazing screen design. It isn't just handsome, though: The Snapdragon 400 ticking away inside gives it enough oomph to keep up with most people's daily...

Sharp Aquos Crystal review: Bezel-less design saves it from obscurity

The Aquos Crystal for Boost Mobile would be an altogether unmemorable phone if it wasn't for its compelling edgeless design.

You can't remove the Crystal's battery, and its in-ear audio quality is mediocre with calls sounding hollow and thin.

Sharp Aquos Crystal ( black)

At last, the mobile consumer pipe-dream to have an edge-to-edge display handset isn't so elusive anymore, and when it was announced, the Aquos Crystal made waves for its compelling design. But beyond its interesting aesthetic, the device is distinctly...

Sharp Aquos Crystal (Boost Mobile)

The Sharp Aquos Crystal is a great-looking budget phone, but its performance doesn't measure up to its looks.

Beautiful. Huge screen for the size. Good Internet speeds. Great for movie playback.

Poor call quality. Very limited internal storage for apps.

Comparisons and Conclusions You aren't going to find a prettier $149 prepaid phone than the Sharp Aquos Crystal, that's for sure. It turns heads. And if you primarily watch videos, play games, and send messages rather than talking, you'll enjoy the...
