Sony Xperia 5 Review: Smaller and cheaper than the Xperia 1

The Sony Xperia 5 takes all of the features that made the Xperia 1 a success and boils them down into a smaller, cheaper handset.

(Still) the best camera we’ve seen on a Sony phone;Sony design fairly distinctive;Balanced, attractive OLED display

21:9 screen has its practical drawbacks;Camera good, but not among the best;Strong rivals at the same price

Sony Xperia 5 review: excellent camera and battery life

A companion piece to the Xperia 1 that's worth considering for your next phone

Crisp and vibrant display ; Very decent camera performance ; Bloat-free Android

Ultra-tall screen feels a little weird ; Oddly placed fingerprint sensor ; Glossy back gets smudged quickly

Sony Xperia 5 review

Premium, powerful and pocket-friendly – but not quite perfect

Excellent display ; Versatile camera ; Good battery life

Awkward fingerprint scanner ; Side Sense is temperamental ; No case included

A pocketable flagship with a sensational screen and a great camera

Sony Xperia 5 initial review: Good things come in small packages

In true Sony fashion, the company announced its second flagship smartphone of the year in the Xperia 5. Here are our first impressions.

Smaller more compact design ; Waterproofing ; Plenty of power ; Software additions ; Solid design

Bezel at top of display ; Drop to Full HD+ resolution

The Sony Xperia 5 is a smaller, more compact model of the Xperia 1 and it's lovely. The reduction in size makes for a more comfortable one-handed device, while many of the super flagship's features are retained. How the Xperia 5 will perform compared...

Sony Xperia V pictures and hands-on - Pocket-lint

Hands on: Sony Xperia 5 review

Sony has taken to IFA 2019 to reveal its next compact flagship phone, and there's a new name involved as it's called the Xperia 5. This isn't a follow-up to the Xperia 1, instead it sits almost alongside in a similar way to the 'Xperia Compact'...

Strong specs Premium design

Not as small as previous handsets No 3.5mm headphone jack

The Sony Xperia 5 features a variety of high-end features that you wouldn't normally see on a smaller phone, but its 21:9 aspect ratio may make it difficult to hold for those with smaller hands.

Sony Xperia V review

A water-resistant, 4G capable smartphone

Decent screen ; Playstation certified ; NFC ; 4G

ICS not the slickest ; Not available in UK ; Waterproof worry

The Sony Xperia V is a respectable mid- to high-end smartphone and as long as the 4G connectivity doesn't drain the battery and the water resistance tag doesn't let us down in our full review, it looks set to be a strong contender in the LTE market.

Sony Xperia 5 review: Sony’s best-priced flagship yet

The Xperia 5 introduces Sony's top-end features to (slightly) lighter wallets, and for the most part it succeeds

Cheaper than Xperia 1 with similar list of features ; Colour accurate 21:9 screen ; Battery life is much better

Similar issues with video stabilisation ; HDR is a bit dull

But decent isn’t quite good enough in 2019, is it? After all, Samsung still reigns supreme in the Android space – even if it does cost more – and Apple’s iPhones have been knocking it out of the park in recent years. The iPhone 11, in particular, does...

Sony Xperia 5

Despite being cheaper than the Xperia 1, this phone lacks the wow factor of its bigger brother and is therefore hard to recommend. Read why in our full review.

Sony Xperia 5 Review

We take a look at Sony's latest smartphone, featuring a triple 12-megapixel camera setup and FullHD 21:9 CinemaWide 6.1-inch screen.

The Sony Xperia 5 offers a good suite of photography, and especially professional videography, solutions. With a FullHD 21:9 ratio screen, you can view your footage back and watch movies as they were intended to be viewed. The 8-megapixel selfie camera...
