Sony Xperia X

In a year of impressive phones, notably the Samsung Galaxy S7 and HTC 10, the Sony Xperia X is a disappointment. Despite the new name, the Sony Xperia X is more of the same from the Japanese brand.

Sony Xperia X review: Sony in a spin?

Sony Mobile seems to be in something of a spin. Having launched the Xperia Z5 family - in regular, Compact and Premium guises - the next throw of the dice was the Xperia X family, amidst rumours that the top-end Z was no more . The Sony Xperia X is...

Good cameras, Stamina mode will see the battery last you through the day, perfectly operable for day-to-day tasks

Price puts it at odds with competition, fingerprint scanner isn't the best, no waterproofing, less exciting screen design than Xperia XA

The Sony Xperia X is something of an oddity. It offers a pair of decent cameras in a package that's nicely designed. The specs are fitting for a mid-range device, delivering the performance you'll need for day-to-day tasks.

Sony Xperia X review

Can Sony's latest smartphone still cut it with the best of them?

Punchy screen ; Fast GPU ; Mostly-classy UI

Over-vivid display colour for camera preview ; Camera can’t match the best ; No 4K video capture

Not the biggest, fastest or most camera-savvy phone in the world, but still a good bet if you don't quite have the cash for a Samsung Galaxy S7 or LG G5

Sony Xperia X review

A phone that doesn't quite know who it's aimed at

Slicker design ; Dedicated camera key ; Lower price

Battery life could be better ; Not water-resistant ; Terrible keyboard recognition

The Xperia X doesn't really fall into any camp as a smartphone. It's not the best-performer in any category, but it's not the cheapest of its kind either. It's lost some of the magic that Sony usually offers, and adds in some annoying bugs, but the...

Sony Xperia X review

The Xperia X has a lot going for it, but its price tag makes it difficult to recommend. Read on for our full Xperia X review.

We wish we could rate the Sony Xperia X more highly than we have. It has a stunning design with a screen size ideal for those who prefer the smaller end of the spectrum. The 5in screen is the sweet-spot for us here. It also offers a great battery life,...

Sony's Xperia X is awesome to use one-handed (review)

Its compact shape and 5-inch screen makes Sony's less expensive Android phone a great fit.

The Sony Xperia X is a winning compact phone for its high-quality camera and ergonomic in-hand fit. The dedicated camera button gives you a convenient quick-shoot option.

Battery life is constrained, and the fingerprint reader won't work on the US version of the phone.

A reliable and likable midrange phone, the Xperia X stands out for its palm-friendly build and strong camera, but we can't recommend it for US customers.

Sony Xperia X Review: In Depth

Sony Xperia X Review: We've taken the Xperia X for a full test drive, and here's what we think of Sony's first big 2016 smartphone.

Unified design ; Fantastic cameras ; Fingerprint security ; Solid media machine

No water resistance ; Not as cheap as we'd hoped

The Xperia X is a curious endeavor from Sony, a flagship phone that willingly skimps here and there in order to undercut rival handsets. And while some might bemoan the lack of Snapdragon 820 action, or how the water resistance is a thing of the past,...

Sony Xperia X review - Xperia XA review: hands on with Z6 replacement

PC Advisor's first impressions of Sony's new X series smartphones from MWC 2016, the Xperia X and Xperia XA. Read our Sony Xperia X review and Sony Xperia XA review, as we hands on with new Sony smartphone range. We love Xperia XA's edge-to-edge...

We can't offer a final verdict until we've spent more time with these new smartphones, but our first impressions are overall positive. We kind of wish that Sony had just stuck with one phone and combined their best features, because we'd have raved...

Sony Xperia X review: Is this the Xperia Z6 in disguise?

Sony's new flagship handset is a weird mix of middling performance and great design

The Sony Xperia X is an odd fish. In its own right, it’s a very good smartphone, with lovely design, decent battery life and performance, a great screen and (in some circumstances) an impressive set of cameras.

Sony Xperia X review

Sony says it's 'always one step ahead', so we put its Xperia X smartphone to the test to see whether it's out in front as claimed or left lagging behind the competition. Its processor is speedy, but does it have the necessary battery life to make it a...
