Acer Nitro XV273K review: A dual Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync gaming monitor

The XV273K can't display 4K HDR at 144Hz, but otherwise it's one impressive gaming monitor

Fantastic colour accuracy ; Suitable for competitive gaming ; Supports Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync

Can’t output 4K HDR at 144Hz ; No FALD ; Sluggish OSD

Granted it isn’t cheap at £900, but if you want a class-leading 4K panel and don’t want to fork out over double on the Predator X27 or the Asus PG27UQ, the Acer Nitro XV273K should be your go-to display.

Acer Nitro XV273K Gaming Monitor Review: 4K at 144Hz Gets Cheaper

Credit: Acer

Super bright at over 500 nits ; Accurate DCI-P3 color gamut ; 144Hz refresh rate ; FreeSync ; G-Sync compatible (without HDR) ; Solid build

No dynamic contrast means HDR only looks slightly better than SDR ; Inaccurate white point in sRGB mode ; Expensive

The Acer Nitro XV273K makes a few compromises to get its price under $1,000. But it still offers fantastic 4K gaming at 144Hz, along with the ability to connect to both FreeSync and G-Sync systems.

Acer Nitro XV3 (XV273K)

Despite its strong color results and moderate price for a 4K, 144Hz-capable panel, Acer's Nitro XV3 has some shortfalls that keep it just shy of gaming-monitor glory.

Cheaper than any other 4K 144Hz display. Good color results. Strong brightness readings. Design accommodates unconventional keyboard placements.

Significant backlight bleed. Tinny onboard speakers. Requires two DisplayPort cables for 4K 144Hz mode. Unable to maintain HDR or G-Sync at 144Hz refresh rate.

Bottom Line: Despite its strong color results and moderate price for a 4K, 144Hz-capable panel, Acer's Nitro XV3 has some shortfalls that keep it just shy of gaming-monitor glory.

Acer Nitro XV273KP

"Excellent monitor has some small teething issues in the menus and setup but well and truly out classes most other panels. I know what's good. 144hz is a straight step in the right direction and should be standard. I wouldnt consider anything below...
