HP w2408h 'Vivid Color' 24in Monitor

Can HP's latest 24in display set the market alight?

HP's w2408h offers a wealth of attractive features, such as HDMI with HDCP, pivot, height adjustment, rotation, four USB ports and speakers. It may not break any records in the picture quality stakes but the image quality is still decent, and unless...

HP W2408H review

The chunky, fully featured 24in widescreen HP W2408H makes itself as future-proof as possible, incorporating an HDMI input alongside one analogue and four USB 2.0 ports.

The HP W2408H may be big, but it's clever too, providing beautiful pictures and future-proof features. We want one.

HP w2408h

The HP W2408h is fitted with a pivot system so you can rotate the screen into the portrait orientation, but in bright conditions it can become a little awkward to view the screen owing to reflections caused by its glossy finish.

HP W2408h review: HP W2408h

HP W2408h

Stylish design; great movies and games performance; includes useful ambient light sensor.

No DVI port; no DVI-to-HDMI cable; color not as accurate as some competitors; poor speaker placement and quality; no screen rotation

The HP w2408h True Color Widescreen is a well-priced 24-inch monitor that looks stylish and performs well. Its lack of a DVI port is its only major stumbling block.

HP w2408

The HP w2408 is a large widescreen monitor that delivers brilliant colors but offers a limited range of A/V ports.

Good overall image quality. Very good horizontal viewing angle performance. Highly adjustable stand.

Has trouble reproducing the brightest and darkest shades of gray. Lacks additional A/V ports. Vertical viewing angle is weak.

HP W2408

It's easy to be seduced by the sheer size of a 24-inch LCD screen—any display that big just looks like it means business. And there was a time when large LCD panels were almost exclusively high-performance parts. That's no longer the case. As the...

Chic design; plenty of ergonomic adjustments and user controls; tons of USB and video ports; HDCP

Glare-y screen; some greyscale banding and color-tracking problems

But despite all the features in its favor, the w2408’s performance failed to win us over. The glossy 1920x1200 screen really enhances movies and games, and we didn’t notice visual anomalies in either circumstance, but a couple issues reared their heads...

HP w2408h

The HP w2408h is an excellent monitor that's suited to graphics or gaming, but it has its flaws and competitors offer more for your money.

Excellent colour ; Great image quality ; Portrait mode

Some minor design issues ; Light leakage ; Text quality

This is an excellent monitor, but we feel that the Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP- HC offers more features and performance for the same or less money -- if you can pin down a good deal on their Web site (it's at AU$849 at the time of writing).
