HP ZR24W is attractive because of its IPS panel and very low price. It's cheaper than Eizo EV233WH and Dell U2410 (at least here in Denmark), and priced similar to the NEC EA231WMi. ZR24W is definitely a good monitor but it also has some disadvantages....

Not good

 

This model suffers a problem where the fluorescent bulbs are not secure and they break. If one bulb is broken the monitor will come on for a moment but then the screen will go blank and not operate without the full set of bulbs fully functional....

Drruuuumm roolllll sez .... of course I returned it. Newegg was fantastic about it. I had to send a few pictures to show its condition, but they graciously refunded the full purchase amount without argument. I lost about 10 to 12 hours of my personal...

If you're doing visual arts stuff, I wouldn't trust these monitors. Email and web browsing, sure, if it's cheap.

Cheap monitors, and they do work.

They don't necessarily work well. One of the two monitors I purchased wouldn't work with VGA, while the other one worked with a VGA cable. (They both worked with other cable types.) One has a sort of stain on the edge of the screen, which is noticeable...

Refurb monitor (5 stars), packaging was lacking (3 stars) = 4 star review

 

It's a good purchase if you need a slightly older monitor to match an existing set. Otherwise, pony up a little additional money for a 1900x1200 Asus PA248Q or Dell U2412m/U2415 (the latter for USB 3.0 included).

I needed a replacement second monitor to match the existing one and found this as a refurbish sale item. What luck! I received the monitor promptly. It looks to be in the stated condition with only minor external blemishes.

The packing left a lot to be desired. Perhaps it was an attempt to fit into a certain size of box for the included free shipping, but the monitor stand was actually protruding out the top/side edge of the box. The box appeared to need another inch of...

Refurb = Used

 

The first one I received had 4 non-functioning buttons, things rattling around inside, and all of the adjustment elements needed tightening to be of any use. I sent it back, and got one with more rattling bits inside, and a small display distortion...

Great original product by HP. Excellent color reproduction, and convenient adjustment options ; Good price

Both items I laid hands on look and feel "used" rather than refurbished
