Samsung YP-P3 8GB

Samsung's YP-P3 isn't just getting an A for effort.

Samsung's touchscreen beauty lacks many iPod touch features and can't match the S-series Walkmans for value or sound quality. But as a slick, pocket-sized player for audio, video and stills, it takes some beating. Samsung's best PMP yet!

Samsung YP-P3 (8GB) review

Samsung has a another stab at the MP3 player market, but while this is certainly good, it fails to aspire to greatness

Luxurious looks and build ; big screen ; iPlayer compatibility ; good sound and video

Though better than some, the interface is far from perfect ; others sound more exciting

One of the best small-capacity, big-screen players we've tested, and affordable too

Samsung YP-P3(8GB)

A good but not great player - if you're fond of the touchscreen interface the YP-U4 could be for you

Stylish design ; touchscreen is superficially impressive ; plenty of features ; good sound and video

Interface has its foibles and could be more intuitive ; lacks extra performance sparkle

Samsung YP-P3 8GB review

Like an increasing number of portable media players, Samsung's P3 has a touchscreen. It doesn't feel nearly as sensitive as Apple's iPod Touch's screen, though, and scrolling through long lists can be quite frustrating.

Samsung's P3 is an inexpensive touchscreen player with great battery life, but it's not ideal for watching video.

Samsung YP-P3 (8GB) review - MP3 player reviews and video

Samsung's latest PMP is a knock-out in the looks department, but can it deliver a punchy performance to match?

Luxurious looks and build. Big screen. iPlayer compatibility. Good sound and video

Interface is far from perfect. Sound lacks excitement of other players

Samsung YP-P3 review

It's been just a month since we first saw Samsung's stylish YP-P3 player, but already it's available for £20 less than the official price of £130. That makes it almost identical in price to the all-conquering iPod Nano , and certainly on first sight,...

Samsung P3

A solid rather than spectacular update of an already capable device, the P3 is a fine-sounding music player, but the touch screen UI still needs work.

Imagine a Samsung P2 with the GUI from the Omnia phone and better codec support, and you have the P3. That's not really a massive leap forward, though, and while the UI looks better than the P2's, it suffers from many of the same basic problems in use....

Hands on with Samsung's touch-controlled P3 media player

Finger-flicking good

Moving from page to page is simply a matter of swiping your finger to the left or right. It was a little disappointing to find you can't swipe directly from page five back to page one, but that was really the only criticism we could make

Samsung P3 32GB, silver

Touch-screen MP3 players and PVPs are all the rage, and it's no wonder: the migration of controls to the display of a device makes it possible to dedicate most of a player's surface area to the screen. Thus, larger screens on smaller gadgets. Surely,...

The Samsung P3 offers a sleek and sturdy design with a gorgeous full-color touch screen and fun interface; it includes a boatload of features such as Bluetooth connectivity, widgets, an FM radio, and voice recording; there is support for a wide variety...

The Samsung P3's interface may take some getting used to; there's no Wi-Fi, and podcast support is inelegant.

The Samsung P3 is an excellent multimedia device that packs a grand amount of features into an impressively compact package with one of the best screens available. Plus, it sounds superb, making this a top contender for audio enthusiasts.
