Samsung YP-Z5Q review

The 2GB Z5Q has a 35-hour battery life and is slim enough to fit in your pocket, but the controls aren't intuitive

Samsung YP-Z5

The YP-Z5 from Samsung offers a similar chassis, storage capacity and price tag to the iPod nano. So what makes it stand out? Plenty.

This is a strong attempt at cracking the mid-capacity portable audio player market from Samsung. It won't win any prizes for design originality, but there's no denying that the YP-Z5 looks and feels great. It's a pleasure to use and has a trump card -...

Samsung - YP-Z5

Those looking for 2GB and 4GB portable music players now have something new to add to their list of possibilities: Samsung's YP-Z5. Available in silver and black, the 2GB player will cost you around £130, the ...

The YP-Z5 produces good quality sound, and it is great that it can be used with a simple drag and drop system to get music and picture files across. Setting up for a few days away from home is incredibly easy. But that control system is painful, and...

Review: Samsung YP-Z5

Samsung opens the iPod hunting season armed with a mean looking nano killer

One area where is just impossible for other companies to compete with Apple's excellent design and wealth of patented technologies is in navigation.

Review: Samsung YP-Z5 MP3 Player

Don Bradbury takes a look at a prospective Christmas gift for any audio enthusiast

Small, strong, excellent sound quality, PlaysForSure technology

Touch Pad indecisive; proprietary UBS 2.0 dock; fussy over OS and software presentation

We've met awkward MP3 player menu navigation before, and the Samsung Z5 is not the worst we've seen by a long chalk, but the fact remains that the user has to spend a deal of time before mastering not only the menu system itself, but more importantly...

Samsung YP-Z5

The similarity between the YP-Z5 and the Nano is something of a double-edged sword for Samsung.

Expert Review

This is the closest you'll get to an iPod killer. Its features are well implemented and designed and the end result is a fantastic MP3 player that perhaps just falls short due to the moody controls. A definite winner in our books.

Small, thin and lightweight, User Interface, Drop and Drag music transfer, Battery life

Touchpad has some issues, Screen could be clearer, Lacks some other features (Radio, Recording etc.)

Samsung YP-Z5 "nano killer" reviewed

We've been eagerly awaiting the first reactions to Samsung's 2GB and 4GB attempts at dethroning the iPod nano, and now Anything But iPod (whose name indicates no bias whatsoever on this topic) has taken the YP-Z5 through its paces (and also taken it...

Samsung yepp YP-Z5

The Samsung Yepp YP-Z5 is part of the opening salvo from the non-Apple high-capacity flash player camp. This is no iPod nano-killer, but it does have some advantages, including better battery life, a bigger screen, and better photo-viewing...

Very good battery life. Large screen. Good photo-viewing features. PlaysForSure-compatible

A bit thick. No on-the-fly playlists. No lossless support. No recording or FM tuner. Not UMS-compliant. Controls could be slightly more precise

The Z5 offers long battery life and good photo-viewing capabilities. It may be the first PlaysForSure-compatible 4GB flash player, but it's still no iPod nano-killer.
