This SOHO flagship can do everything but make the tea

Double-sided printing ; Does everything ; Cheap to buy and run

Fiddly touchscreen ; Not designed for high volumes ; Looks hideous

Brother MFC-L2740DW

 

The Brother MFC-L2740DW mono laser multifunction printer (MFP) is packed with advanced features and suitable for use as a shared printer or for heavy-duty personal use.

Prints, scans, faxes, copies. Automatic document feeder. Duplex (two-sided) printing and scanning. Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Wi-Fi Direct.

Output quality is at the low end of the range for monochrome laser MFPs, though it's still acceptable.

If you need better output quality, particularly for text, you'll be better off with the Editors' Choice Samsung M2875FW, which will also give you slightly faster speed than the Brother MFC-L2740DW. Alternatively, if you don't need particularly...

Quick and Quiet! Once set up, the printer works very well.

 

Overall I am quite happy with the printer. I can probably open a one way port on my router to let others print from my secondary guest network, but hey... they can go print on their own printer.

Laser print is so much better than ink jet. No smears, or messy ink blots. It is monochrome, but that is what I wanted. I have it connected by Ethernet cable to my network. I print wirelessly via my computer through my Wireless Access Point to the...

Setup took a bit longer than I thought, but I finally muddled through. Set up was not as intuitive as I thought it would be. I admit I tried to take shortcuts, but I had to circle back and redo some things.

Lasted less than 2 weeks

 

Didn't have chance to try the printer

I had this for less than 2 weeks and now I am getting vertical black and white lines and when I power it on I get a ringing sound. I expected more than this from a $200 printer

Great Small Business Machine

 

Size is bigger than I expected. You're probably not going to want to set this on your desk.

So far, this is a great all in one. I own a small business and have been looking to upgrade for quite some time, and would recommend this. I was most interested in the scan features (I do a lot of scanning) and needed something that could work quickly....

After doing a lot of scanning the computer and scanner lost connection and I had to restart both (after roughly 600 pages in a row) . Probably my fault, so no loss of an egg.

Does a good job for what it is

Does not have anywhere near the capacity it is claims to have, prints slowly and goes through Genuine HP High Yield toner in a few hundred pages. Nowhere near the 2,600 as claimed
