Epson WorkForce 520 review: Epson WorkForce 520

Epson WorkForce 520

Excellent output quality; fast output speeds; office-friendly features including auto document feeder, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet networking.

Lacks PictBridge/memory card reader; mediocre photo print quality.

The Epson WorkForce 520 isn't ideal for photo printing or graphics-heavy documents, but this all-in-one device delivers office-capable features like an auto document feeder and multiple connection options at an effective price. For light-duty office...

Epson WorkForce 520 All-in-One Printer

The Epson WorkForce 520 color inkjet multifunction printer (with print, scan, copy, and fax functions) deserves credit for breaking two inkjet stereotypes. It is not slow--in fact, it's blazing fast. Its inks are not expensive, either--they're...

Economical inks ; Very fast at printing text, copying, and scanning ; Low purchase price

Middling text quality at default settings ; High-yield inks offer little savings ; No automatic duplexer

The WorkForce 520's speed and cheap inks address two small-office needs, but its text quality on plain paper falls short of another.

Epson WorkForce 520

The Epson WorkForce 520 All-in-One offers a full set of MFP features for a micro or home office.

Prints, scans, and faxes even over a network. Ethernet and WiFi. Standalone copier and fax.

Low paper capacity. Although acceptable for most business uses, output quality is below par across the board.

Review: Epson WorkForce 520 multifunction printer

The Epson WorkForce 520 color inkjet multifunction printer deserves credit for breaking two inkjet stereotypes. It is not slow--in fact, it's blazing fast. Its inks are not expensive, either--they're impressively cheap, as is the machine's purchase price.

We found the WorkForce 520 generally easy to set up and work with. Driver setup went quickly, and the unit's standard Wi-Fi is convenient (USB and ethernet also come standard). The two-line monochrome LCD and its interface are straightforward but feel...

Epson WorkForce 520 review

Beneath the ADF, users will find the 48-bit color flatbed scanner offering a maximum scan resolution of 9600 x 9600 dpi (interpolated) and an optional resolution up to 1200 dpi. The flatbed can scan documents and photos up to 8.5 x 11.5 inches and...

Fast print speeds (fastest in its class) ; Good text print quality ; Low energy consumption ; Increased paper capacity

Manual duplexing ; Must power off after print error ; Scan software lacking ; No front side USB

The Epson WorkForce 520 comes with a one-year limited warranty in the U.S. and Canada. A one-year and two-year extended service plan can be purchased for $19.95 and $29.95, respectively

Functionality ruined by ink cartridge debacle

I thought this printer was fine till one ink cartridge ran out, then I found out how a set of new Epson ink cartridges cost more than the printer itself. I've learned this printer prints with a little bit of all colours even when printing in black and...

Compact, easy set up

Won't work at all, won't even scan, if even one ink cartridge is empty

"Printer works, buy if you want to bankrupt yourself buying ink"

It works fine, the print is ok, and the scanning etc, but when it comes to ink its a scam!!! Its got a whole bunch of ink cartridges, and it will only print if they are ALL full. Its got TWO black cartridges and three color. If ANY cartridge is low,...

Consumer review (cnet.com)

Printer is garbage, Scanner ok

I barely print, and made sure to use the lowest quality print setting possible for most of my printing, and yet, the ink cartridges still run out ridiculously fast. Then, it's $70 to get new cartridges. I might just take all of my printing to Kinko's...

The feed scanner was not bad

Ink guzzler, poor print quality
