HP Photosmart Pro B8850 review

HP's Photosmart Pro B8850 is a professional-quality A3 photo and fine art printer, and is priced accordingly.

HP Photosmart Pro B8850 review

The entry level of the archival-quality photo printer market is heating up right now, with the simultaneous release of Epson's Stylus Photo R1900 and HP's Photosmart Pro B8850.

The Photosmart Pro B8850 isn't a radical shift from HP's initial entry into the pigment ink printer market. HP wisely chose to whittle the right features from the B9180 to create an affordable, entry-level printer for photographers looking for...

HP - Photosmart Pro B8850

It's generally true in the printing world that if you need a printer to do a heavy workload then you'll probably need a heavy printer: one look at the packaging that the Photosmart Pro B8850 arrives ...

If you don't already own the B9180, then the pared-down B8850 is the ideal choice for serious photographers working with larger canvases who are on a comparatively limited budget.

HP Photosmart Pro B8850 review

HP's Photosmart Pro B8850 is a lower-priced version of the Photosmart Pro B9180 photo printer, offering that model's very good print quality and strong features (with a few intelligent omissions) at a lower price.

HP Photosmart Pro B8850 Photo Printer

File the HP Photosmart Pro B8850 Photo Printer ($549.99 direct) under pleasant surprises. In theory, it's the next-generation replacement for the Photosmart 8750 Professional Photo Printer, a model that printed good, but not great, photos and suffered...

Superb photo output at sizes up to 13 by 19 inches. Fine art papers available.

Photos and graphics on plain paper are disappointing.

The HP Photosmart Pro B8850 Photo Printer makes it easyand affordableto print high-quality photos at up to 13 by 19 inches.

Hewlett-Packard Photosmart Pro B8850

Supports thick fine-art media ; Very good print quality, especially on matte and fine-art papers ; Long-lasting prints on HP media ; Good software utilities ; Produces neutral black-and-white prints

Glossy prints show some bronzing ; Slower than comparable photo printers

HP Photosmart Pro B8850 Review

Following hot on the heels of the popular Photosmart Pro B9180 13 inch / A3 photo printer, HP has just introduced a lower price model, the B8850, that will appeal to enthusiasts who don't need all of the features of the B9180. The HP B8850 was...

HP Photosmart B8850 Photo Printer Review

A high end printer capable of handling a variety of print sizes

Good color accuracy; Good color accuracy; Good detail performance; Good detail performance

The B8850 turned in a creditable performance overall, with good looking, sharp prints with accurate color. But it was somewhat noisy while doing so; there is a lot of clanking and thumping from the printer itself while printing.
