BenQ W1500

This BenQ mid-ranger is OK with 2D, but its 3D is just plain weird. Find out why...

Excellent motion handling, Good colour performance, Decent wireless video system

Black level response could be better, Rather limited zoom and vertical image shift, Weird 3D

BenQ W1500 review

This BenQ projector has the bonus of wireless connectivity, but is the picture up to scratch?

Clear picture ; Realistic colours ; Decent contrast ; Wireless connectivity ; Compact, portable unit ; Good remote ; Easy set-up

Class leaders are punchier and more insightful

A competitive, well-featured product that’s definitely worth considering

BenQ W1500 Projector

If you're looking for a projector (and why wouldn't you be - good ones are abundant and cheap these days, and deliver much more screen real estate for your money than TV sets), you don't necessarily have to seek out the top the range get yourself and...

Sporting a brown, cream and silver styling that wouldn't have been out of place in the 1950s, the BenQ W1500 is a 2200 lumens mid-range single-chip 3D-capable DLP projector that weighs in at 4.5kg and measures 340*120*285mm (width/height/depth).

BenQ W1500

The BenQ W1500 3D home entertainment projector is bright enough to stand up to moderate ambient light and offers acceptable, if not particularly impressive, video quality.

Like most recent 3D home entertainment projectors, the W1500 can plug into a Blu-ray player, cable box, or the equivalent directly to show 3D images. However, it doesn’t ship with any DLP-Link glasses, which means you have buy the glasses separately...

BenQ W1500 Full HD 3D Projector Review

BenQ are moving into the more expensive end of the projector market. Steve Withers discovers if the performance justifies the price.

Excellent greyscale ; Good colour accuracy ; Impressive 3D ; Great set of features

Mediocre blacks ; Lens controls limited ; Rainbow artefacts

The W1500 comes with plenty of accessories including an HDMI adapter that lets you send Full HD and 3D wirelessly from your source to the projector. In testing this adapter worked well, creating a robust connection and maintaining the image integrity....

BenQ W1500 review

Wireless HDMI included ; Vertical lens shift ; Short throw for big image at short distance ; Flexible placement ; Excellent brightness

Loss of shadow detail ; Set up of wireless HDMI is a hassle ; Some rainbow effect for sensitive viewers

At the end of the day, we tend to prefer Epson’s Powerlite Cinema 3020e projector, even if it is a good $600 more expensive. With that said, the BenQ W1500 is an great projector in its own right, and its included wireless HDMI connectivity, once set...

BenQ W1500

The BenQ W1500 3D home entertainment projector is easily bright enough to stand up to moderate ambient light in a family room.

Works directly with HDMI 1.4a devices like Blu-ray players for full 1080p 3D. Wireless HD connection.

Shows rainbow artifacts, although much less often than with many DLP projectors. Hard to focus eyes with some 3D scenes.

If you can't stand seeing any rainbow artifacts, ever, you'll need to ignore this—and virtually every other—DLP projector in favor of LCD models like the Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 750HD or Epson 3020e. If you, and no one you watch with, sees the...
