Sony VPL-HW45ES

The VPL-HW45ES is the successor to a classic Full HD projector, the VPL-HW40ES. That's a formidable heritage, but Sony has had two years to come up with ways to improve on it. The result: it's really, really good. Your movies will look great, but low...

Sony VPL-HW45ES review

From the moment you switch it on, you'll discover a talented projector

Crisp, detailed picture ; Natural colour pallet ; Easy to set up

Nothing at this price

From the moment we switched on this Sony we could tell we were on to a winner, and that notion never wavered

Sony VPL-HW45ES HD Projector review

Maybe we don't need 4K after all?

Cinematic picture performance ; Top notch detail processing ; Superior motion handling ; Relatively quiet

Too dim for media room use ; Needs professional installation ; Lack of a 12v trigger is irritating

This sensational Sony is a welcome update on a sumptuous 1080p projector design. If you're planning a dedicated cinema room, it's a blockbuster you won't want to miss…

AVTech Awards 2016/2017

With the VPL-HW45ES, Sony has lowered the entry price for a genuinely cinematic projector performance. A Full HD resolution model employing the company's proprietary SXRD display tech, it crafts largescreen Blu-ray visuals (including 3D) that beguile...

Sony VPL-HW45ES 1080p SXRD Projector Review

Sony has a new 1080p SXRD entry level projector in the shape of the HW45ES and it is an absolute cracker!

Good black levels for this level of the market ; Excellent colour accuracy ; Good shadow detail and dynamic range ; Excellent video processing ; Good motion ; Excellent input lag for gaming ; Good quality lens and sharpness

Not much wrong at this price and performance level

The best way to conclude this review is by stating the obvious. If you want accurate cinematic images with decent blacks, good shadow detail and stunningly accurate colours for under £2,000 there is no other choice to be made. No, it is not perfect and...

The Best Projector for a Home Theater

With its superb image quality, easy setup options, and comparable affordability, we think the Sony VPL-HW45ES is the best projector for dedicated home theaters.

The Sony VPL-HW45ES offers the best mix of picture quality, light output, and price. It’s quiet, easy to set up, and a great projector all around. If you want a step up in picture quality (including wide color gamut colors), the Epson Home Cinema...

unbelievable picture

Delivered day after ordering, had to replace one of the HDMI cables due to mice eating into it. Very easy to set up, can't believe how good the picture is, I would compare it to my 65" oled tv. I particularl like the 3D, I still had my Sony glasses...

Superb picture

After watching the same scenes from a Blu-ray disc via every projector in the store I somewhat reluctantly came to the conclusion that although the Sony was 50% more expensive than its nearest rival, it was worth it. The picture was smooth, accurate...
