D-Link Day/Night Network Cloud Camera 1150 (DCS-933L)

D-Link's entry into low-cost indoor surveillance lacks some of the extras we like to see in networked webcams, but it offers easy setup and good usability at a fair price.

We’ve yet to see a Wi-Fi surveillance camera that has just the right mix of performance, setup, and features to match the Logitech Alert 750n Indoor Master System. The 750n remains our Editors’ Choice even though it’s more expensive and isn’t wireless...

This IP camera is inexpensive enough, but you'll need a D-Link router to take full advantage.

LED illumination for nighttime operation ; Integrated motion sensor and microphone ; Can operate as a wireless range extender

Mediocre image quality ; Very sensitive to ambient light ; Motion and sound detectors can't trigger camera to capture images or video

The best attribute of D-Link's DCS-933L is its price tag. It's a solid value as a stand-alone device.

D-Link Day/Night Network Cloud Camera 1150 (DCS-933L)

D-Link's entry into low-cost indoor surveillance lacks some of the extras we like to see in networked webcams, but it offers easy setup and good usability at a fair price.

Low price. Free 24/7 viewing. Supports multiple cameras. Integrated Wi-Fi extender. Zero configuration setup with other D-Link equipment. Decent mobile apps for iOS and Android. Works with Macs.

Not HD. No online storage DVR service. Limited-range night vision. One-way audio. Video via Web requires Java. Indoor-only.

Conclusion We've yet to see a Wi-Fi surveillance camera that has just the right mix of performance, setup, and features to match the Logitech Alert 750n Indoor Master System . The 750n remains our Editors' Choice even though it's more expensive and...

Very nice image

Very nice image and sound. Easy to setup, and install. I also like the Android app, it's very easy to manage multiple cams

Maybe consider making these cams with PoE's (though I'm sure dlink has more expensive IP Cams that use PoE). Nothing else. Good cam

Features need polished, but Cloud camera is nice.

I have mixed feelings about this product. I think the MyDlink Cloud services is really kinda cool and is easy to navigate and use the camera remotely. Minus the annoyance of the Java security popup in the browser, I am pretty impressed with the site...

I found the D-Link DCS-933L Cloud camera to be pretty good at the general purpose it was intended for. That is connect to the internet via a browser or smartphone/tablet ; app in order to check up or keeps tabs on things remotely. The camera comes with...

I think the camera offers a lot for the price, however, some of the advertised features were just not executed as I would have liked to see. Many of them are also available only in the camera's built in webpage or by using the D-ViewCam software as...

Good Camera - Read The Directions

I rated myself pretty low on experience in this area, because that is just the reality of the situation. I may possibly buy a few more of these cameras in the future. Not sure right now. But overall I like it, and see real possibilities for building a...

This is my first real experience with wireless webcam/security/cloud cameras, so I should have read the directions prior to using it. I could have saved myself some problems. I will say most of those problems were caused by my lack of experience in...

My only cons came when trying to install and use the D-Viewcam software. If you are a novice in this area of tech as I am, do yourself a favor and read the directions first. Winging it did not work well for me. YMMV. The problems I had here are mostly...

Nice Cloud Camera

I thought the built-in microphone was very sensitive. Since I had a set of eager test subjects, I set the camera up to monitor my two kitten's food bowls, that were placed on top of a chest freezer in our kitchen, My 12 week old orange tabby kitten...

I tested the D-Link Cloud Camera 1150, also known as the D-Link model DCS-933L day/night network/WIFI camera ; Common uses for this camera would be as a baby, or a pet monitor, or for security use to monitor a room, or a yard area. Since this camera is...

I think D-Link should consider converting their software to use another programming language besides Java. When I typed the camera's IP address into my browser to view the output from the camera, I always got one or two annoying Java security warnings,...

Excellent product

I think the price on this item is excellent for what you're getting. A wireless IP camera AND a wireless network extender. I wound up not using the mydlinklite account since I just set up port forwarding on my router/firewall but it is a nice addition...

The included setup instructions were very easy to follow ; Within 5 minutes I had the device connected to my network, had a static IP address assigned and was viewing video and audio ; I was able to set up my Synology NAS to DVR the camera very easily...

The wireless extender did not work for me if I had it use the same SSID as the network it was repeating (this is an option, so it should work). What would happen is that as soon as I turned on the 933L extender with that network name all my wireless...

Nice semi-compact wireless/wired IP camera

This would be a good app for a Baby Monitor, or some other area you want to check in and see from time to time. Not sure how long the iPhone's battery will last if you were to leave the app up all the time though. I will report more if I run into any...

The D-Link Cloud Camera 1150 (Actual model # is DCS-933L) is a nice semi-compact wireless/wired camera unit. The setup should be easy for home users on a standard home network. Be sure to pick the correct model from the website when downloading the...

Apparently the www.mydlink.com site is not compatible with IE 10 yet (It works with FireFox though) ; You must SMTP mail server or (Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, Sina) in order to have the images sent to you. Since D-link took the steps to have a web...
