Netatmo Presence

The Presence is Netatmo's outdoor smart security camera. In addition to its weather-proofing, the Presence's party trick is its claimed ability to be able to tell the difference between a human, a car and an animal, then react accordingly.

A good external security camera. Just get someone else to install it.

Netatmo Presence

The Netatmo Presence is an outdoor security camera and floodlight that offers excellent motion detection, 1080p video, event-triggered recording, and local video storage, but it's expensive and installation may be tricky for some users.

Advanced motion detection recognizes animals, cars, and people. Sharp 1080p video. Local video storage. Works with IFTTT. Uses mobile and web apps.

Expensive. Installation requires some wiring knowledge. Does not support geofencing or two-way audio.

Netatmo's Presence may look kinda weird, but this quirky $300 outdoor security camera and floodlight hybrid is also seriously smart.

The Presence costs 100 bucks more than competing products. Its bold, modern design won't appeal to everyone. I wish it worked with more smart home platforms. It wasn't particularly easy to install, either.

The Netatmo Presence shows a lot of promise when it comes to advanced motion detection, but it's too expensive and its design is too distinctive for it to have broad appeal.
