I'm fed up with Samsung's SmartCam PT security camera

Samsung's disappointing SmartCam PT indoor DIY security camera doesn't even work with any smart home platform, including the Samsung-owned SmartThings.

Samsung's $229 SmartCam PT does a pretty good job tracking motion activity around a room. It offers local and cloud storage, motion detection zones and a privacy mode.

You'll be using the same clunky old SmartCam Android or iPhone app as before. The SmartCam PT doesn't work with any smart home platforms, even Samsung's SmartThings. Trigger-happy motion and audio sensors set off tons of unneeded alerts, but adjusting...

Samsung needs to improve its app interface and introduce at least one smart-home partner to broaden the overpriced SmartCam PT's appeal.

Samsung's Nest Cam dupe puts up a good facade

The Korean giant's next-gen security camera is here -- and it looks a lot like Nest Cam. But is it as good?

Samsung's new SmartCam HD Plus has a more discreet design than the larger last-gen SmartCam HD Pro. A 16GB microSD card is included with your $190 purchase.

The HD Plus uses the same clunky app as its predecessor. Although Samsung promised improvements in motion detection and night vision, this next-gen cam isn't noticeably better than the HD Pro. It isn't compatible with SmartThings yet.

The SmartCam HD Plus is a fine live streaming HD camera, particularly if you want to go the local storage route, but it isn't markedly better than Samsung's previous 1080p security camera.

Samsung's IP camera delivers on features, but disappoints in design

Can Samsung's $189 SmartCam HD Pro compete with the $199 Dropcam Pro?

Tons of app-accessible features make Samsung's $189 SmartCam HD Pro an extremely hands-on, customizable IP camera. It has less lag time than the $199 Dropcam Pro and offers SD card storage.

The camera's components feel cheap. The video quality isn't as crisp as its Dropcam Pro competition even though both are 1080p.

The Samsung SmartCam HD Pro is a very good IP camera, but Dropcam Pro still has it beat in terms of durability, app design, and overall video quality.

Compact outdoor quality true HD camera

I just have to comment on some of the other reviews negative comments. There seem to be a few mentioning bad/poor picture quality. I have a few of these and have excellent picture quality on all of them. A lot of the other complaints are ridiculous....

I had been wanting to upgrade to true HD quality cameras for some time. When I saw these I decided to give them a try and they have been working great for several months now. I looked at a number of different options before purchasing these and these...

Setup does require a phone or tablet with WiFi on the same network and at least temporarily installing their app for the initial configuration. The app is functional but pretty basic

I purchased this unit because I already have two Samsung smartcams inside my home and wanted to use one application to connect to all the cameras.

These cameras work great so far. I wish I could upload a few pics because the quality is amazing. ~~~ The cord that connects to the camera is NOT removable on the camera end. It's permanently attached so you have to feed the cable from the camera...
