Acer Iconia A1-810 review

Tablets have exploded on to the tech scene quite unlike any other product in the last few years. The Acer Iconia A1-810 can't perhaps be awarded with the same explosive level of anticipation compared to the levels raised by the announcements of the...

MicroSD card slot for expansion, runs well at this price point, budget iPad mini competitor, decent battery life

Lower resolution than some competitors, sunlight reflections from screen can make outdoor use tricky, 3G only available in 811 model (not available everywhere), plasticky build, 4:3 aspect ratio won't suit all apps

Even though the Acer Iconia A1-810 connects via Wi-Fi only - for 3G connectivity look at the A1-811 - it delivers plenty for its £175 price tag.

Budget Android tablet looks solid but unexceptional

4:3 screen ; Good connectivity ; Strong battery

Better-spec tablets are cheaper ; No word on newer Android ; Screen poor

Average at best, Acer Iconia A1-810 runs Android 4.2

Acer's 7.9-inch Android tablet sports a display similar to the iPad Mini's but is more about affordability than high-end design. It does have a microSD slot and a Micro-HDMI port, though.

The ; has a low price, runs the latest version of Android 4.2, and includes an expandable storage option and a Micro-HDMI port.

The tablet is thicker and heavier than other small tablets and uncomfortable to hold in one hand. Its screen could be brighter, and the front-facing camera takes washed-out, blurry photos.

The Acer Iconia A1-810 goes low on price, but the Google Nexus 7 costs about the same and is still the tablet to get with its sharper screen and more comfortable build.
