Apple iPad Air (2020) review

What Hi-Fi? Awards 2021 winner. This could be the best choice of iPad for most people

Great picture and sound ; Attractive design ; Excellent user experience

Imperfect front-facing camera ; Touch ID button is awkward ; Not the cheapest tablet around

The latest iPad Air gets more than just a makeover – it’s a brilliant all-rounder and all the tablet most people could ever need

iPad Air 4 (2020) review

The iPad Air 4 (2020) is a powerhouse slate that makes it difficult to justify opting for the iPad Pro when this model offers so much for a lower price.

All-screen design Lots of power Adventurous color choices

64GB storage is limited Higher price than last-gen Selfie camera could be better

The iPad Air for 2020 is a phenomenally well-made tablet that improves upon the last-gen version in a variety of ways, solving issues with that tablet’s dated design and accessories. The jump in price will make this a tougher sell for some, but the...

Apple iPad Air (2020) review: An iPad for all seasons

Apple's 2020 iPad Air is a leap forward over the previous generation - and it's all to do with the evolution of the iPad Pro.

Excellent performance ; USB-C forward-looking ; Touch ID button works well ; Trackpad support means true laptop replacement ; Variety of colours

Lack of Face ID can annoy ; No 128GB option ; Accessories expensive ; No rear camera flash

This iPad costs significantly less than the Pro model and, for many users, it offers significantly better value - although the price can quickly ramp up with accessories. The Air is powerful, desirable, fun and functional - it's an iPad for all seasons.

iPad Air (2020)

The iPad Air is a huge improvement on the 2019 variant, but it's also much more expensive.

Apple iPad Air 4th generation (2020) review

A bit more pro and a lot more expensive. Is this iPad Air still the iPad for everyone?

Vastly improved design ; Almost unreasonably powerful ; USB-C for charging and accessories

Speaker set-up weird in portrait ; No ProMotion ; Limited storage options

Pointing to iPad’s future rather than its past, this is a meaningful, impressive iPad Air update

Apple iPad Air 2020 (4th Gen) tablet review

  (Rating Hidden)

Apple is asking you to pay a hefty premium over the standard iPad for the iPad Air's few extra features - a larger screen, lightweight design and faster processor are the main benefits. We've put all this and m...

iPad Air (2020) review: Not quite Pro, but the next best thing

Apple has made extensive changes for the iPad Air's fourth generation: new design, brand-new CPU, better camera, more options. Do the Pro models need to worry?

Attractive design ; Super-powerful processor ; Supports Pro accessories

Middling battery life ; 60Hz screen

The new Air is an excellent tablet. It's hard to make much of a case now for the iPad Pro; we'd recommend that most people in the market for a luxury tablet save their money and get this instead.

Apple iPad Air (2020) review: The iPad Pro for everyone else

The iPad Air is the perfect middle-ground tablet. It's vastly nicer and more capable than the base iPad, but more reasonably priced than the iPad Pro.

Excellent hardware design ; Strong battery life and USB-C ; Wonderful display ; Pro-level performance ; Magic Keyboard support ; Fast fingerprint sensor

Base 64GB of storage ; Expensive upsell to 256GB

Apple iPad Air (2020) Review

Super-fast processor and internet speeds ; Excellent cameras ; Fantastic build quality

Unimpressive battery life ; iPadOS still doesn't multitask as well as Mac/Windows

The fourth-generation iPad Air gives you the power of an iPad Pro for less money, making it the best Apple tablet to buy in 2020.

Apple iPad Air (2020) review: take it from the Pro

It costs a little more this year, but if you're going to keep it for five years, it's the one to get.

Excellent screen ; Compatible with iPad Pro accessories ; Very fast processor

Price increase ; Only step-up storage option is a big jump, $749 for 256GB ; Touch ID on the power button takes some getting used to

The new 2020 iPad Air has the same design as the 11-inch iPad Pro and therefore feels just as nice to use. It also has the very fast A14 Bionic chip, which we are expecting to also be used in upcoming Mac laptops.
