Archos 32

Is it an Internet tablet or a portable media player? All we know for sure is that it runs android and has a 3.2in screen.

, but these features are not the devices raison d’etre to the extent that they are of the iPod touch. The small size, more than the interface, is what will put you off doing much Internet-ing with the Archos 32.

Archos 32 Internet Tablet 8GB review

It was only a matter of time before manufacturers started using Android in touchscreen media players; its flexibility and polished interface make Google's mobile operating system the logical choice for anyone out to make an iPod Touch rival. Archos's...

Once we fixed its limitations we enjoyed using the Archos 32, but we're sure better Android media players will be out soon.

Archos 32 Internet Tablet review

Don't let the name of the Archos 32 Internet Tablet fool you: it's palm-size, and it more closely resembles an Android smartphone than it does a Samsung Galaxy Tab. This is more of a mini-tablet than a tablet.

As a media player, the Archos 32 Internet Tablet could be a good travelling companion on the cheap if you don't already own an iPod touch or a smartphone, but if you're looking for smartphone-quality web surfing and apps, or if you want to read text...

Archos 32 (8GB) review

Many of the hottest mobile devices of 2010 run some variation of Google's Android OS. Unfortunately, getting your hands on an Android device that isn't wrapped up in carrier contracts and monthly bills is nearly impossible.

The Archos 32 delivers features such as music and video playback, e-mail, Web browsing, Bluetooth, a camcorder, and plenty of Android 2.2 goodness, in a contract-free device that fits in your pocket.

Archos uses its own app store instead of the official Google Marketplace. The touch screen is difficult to read outdoors, and the keyboard's small size makes it prone to error. The audio player choked on some podcasts and audiobooks. Storage is limited.

The Archos 32 tablet offers many of the core features of Android 2.2 at an attractive price, but its keyboard is too impractical to rely on as a productivity tool, and the Archos-managed app store limits the device's overall potential.

Archos 32 Android media player

Review Archos is calling the 32 an Android tablet, but I have trouble convincing myself that anything with a 3.2in screen is really a tablet so it makes far more sense to review it as a touchscreen media player.

The 8GB 32 can easily be found for just under £100 which makes it significantly cheaper than Apple’s £130 iPod Nano or Samsung's £150 Galaxy Player 50. If you can live without DRM support and storage expansion then the 32 has a lot going for it: codec...

Archos 32 Android tablet review

The Archos 32 Android tablet is just like the Archos 28: the only difference is it's a bit larger and pricier – and sadly no more usable because of it.

Unbelievably solid video playback

Resistive touchscreen

The screen is a crucial missing piece of this PMP puzzle

Archos - 32 internet tablet

There are plenty of portable devices around that let you enjoy media, access the internet and organise your life. But while many tech-obsessed types are announcing the demise of more “limited” handhelds in favour of all-singing, ...

The Archos 32 certainly does the company's reputation justice, and though these sorts of features may not be restricted only to “high-end” mobiles for much longer, this sort of 'cut-down' approach didn't do Apple any harm with its iPod Touch. The...

Archos 32 Internet Tablet review

With there now being five (oh yes, five!) Archos Android Internet Tablets on the market, it's understandably hard to keep 'em all straight, but in our

Support for lots of audio and video formats ; Responsive resistive touchscreen ; Good sound quality

Lacks access to Android Market ; Awkward camera placement ; No speaker

Timex’s Ironman Global Trainer is solid device that’s decidedly more watch-like than other GPS watches, but it’s still on the large side, and more expensive than some competitors.
