While the Asus VivoTab Note 8 tries to embrace desktop/mobile duality, it should be considered by Windows 8.1 aficionados only.

Fast and responsive 8-inch Windows 8.1 tablet ; microUSB expandable memory jack ; Pre-installed native photo/video apps

Small screen provides poor Windows 8.1 experience ; So-so battery life ; Poor camera

Asus is stuck with an awkward dual OS problem, and the VivoTab Note 8 should be considered by patient Windows 8.1 aficionados only.

There's no shortage of 8-inch Windows 8 tablets right now. We've recently reviewed models from Acer, Dell, and Lenovo, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, but also largely similar in terms of components and price.

The Asus VivoTab 8 includes a Wacom stylus, something other 8-inch Windows 8 tablets lack. Battery life isn't at the top of its class, but it's close.
