Kobo Arc 7HD review

Most of the tablets sold on the high street come bundled with a SIM and subscription these days. Not so the Kobo Arc 7HD. Championed by WHSmith, it's Wi-Fi only, runs on the Android operating system - as championed by many smartphones and tablets out...

Inexpensive, attractive reading environment, decent HD screen, Android implementation open to all competitors' apps, pocket integration, Collections bookmarking

Kindle Fire HDX is more powerful on paper, no 3G/4G option limits on-the-go use somewhat, rear-facing speaker underwhelming

There are two reasons why we’re drawn to the Kobo Arc 7HD over the Amazon alternative. First, it allows you to access Google Play without either rooting the device or side-loading applications. You're free to do as you please, not locked down to...

Kobo Arc review: another 7-inch Android tablet steps into the ring

Kobo's upped its game since the bitterly disappointing Vox, but this 7-incher just doesn't offer enough to distinguish itself from the competition.

Open Google Play access ; Up to 64GB of storage ; Rugged design

Bulky design ; Uninspired Android skinning ; Content selection spread out over three stores

Placed against the low, low standard of last year's Vox, the Kobo Arc is a winner. Compared to the rest of the 7-inch tablets in the world, however, it's a non-starter. The Arc's not a bad device, by any means, but given the portion of the public...

The Kobo Arc tablet is the less discerning man's Nexus 7

The Kobo Arc starts at the same $200 price as the Nexus 7, but unfortunately doesn't offer enough compelling reasons to seriously consider buying it.

The ; features good gaming performance and useful e-reader features.

The Arc’s boxy build gives it an antiquated feel, it ships with an older OS, and its Tapestries feature can be buggy.

The Kobo Arc is a fine tablet that simply doesn't offer enough compelling reasons to seriously consider it.

I was thinking of buying this tablet, Kobo Arc 7 HD, following a good review by Which. But then I also looked up the users' comments on the internet, nearly all of them recommending not to buy it and changed my mind.Who is doing your tablet reviews?

Kobo Arc 7

64gb memory installed - more than enough for music and big range of books. Can add Kindle App so can read Kindle and epub on the same device. Good battery life - about 2 days - as long as wifi is turned off (but have had about 7 hrs with wifi on).

None that I have found yet.
