Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 review: A competent budget tablet

A competent tablet, but the Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 is too expensive for what it is

The Dell Venue 8 Android is cheaper and has a higher-resolution screen, so is our choice for an 8in Android tablet (as long as you're not interested in games). If you’d like to play the latest 3D titles on your tablet and can handle a slightly smaller...

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 video review: An overpriced upgrade to the Galaxy Tab 3

Samsung's tablet range is vast, so choosing one isn't easy. This eight-inch Galaxy Tab 4 also comes in 7- and 10-inch versions, all of which are available in black or white, and each model is also available as a 4G version, which we have here. Also...

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 review

The Tab 4 is aimed at the more price-conscious end of the market as opposed to the Tab S range, which is the flagship, iPad-rivalling series. It lacks the S-Pen of the Galaxy Note models, too, which are also more expensive.

Even though the Tab 4 8.0 is cheaper than the Tab S and Tab Pro tablets, it’s expensive compared to its rivals. Add to this some outdated specifications and it's no bargain.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 review

Samsung's Galaxy Tab 4 range is the entry level and includes 7-, 8- and 10-inch screens. Here's our review of the Tab 4 8.0 Wi-Fi & 4G, which also works as a smartphone, so technically it's a phablet.

Even though the Tab 4 8.0 is cheaper than the Tab S and Tab Pro tablets, it’s expensive compared to its rivals. Add to this some outdated specifications and it's no bargain.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8-inch, titanium

Running the latest version of Android , Google's operating system, the Tab A features Samsung's robust and user-friendly TouchWiz interface and -- on top of that -- it offers a few useful and fun software perks. In addition to in-app bonuses for games...

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A is affordably priced and offers many premium app perks for free. Its microSD slot accommodates cards up to 128GB.

The plastic construction feels cheap, and the single speaker provides weak audio. The text often appears pixelated.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A is a simple tablet worth picking up for its low price, and its valuable extras sweeten the deal even more.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 ( 8-inch, black)

Starting at $279, the 8-inch Tab 4 is priced competitively when compared to premium midsize tablets like Samsung's own Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 or the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 , but they rock larger super-HD screens, zippy processors, and deluxe designs...

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0's multiwindow feature provides smooth navigation, and its performance is consistently fast. It houses a microSD card expansion slot and can be used as a universal remote.

Given its simple specs, the $279 starting price is overreaching. The plastic build feels cheap and the screen resolution is notably subpar.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 is a smooth-performing midrange slate, but it's overpriced compared to similar tablets.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 offers little in the form of innovation, but for a competitive price, you get a reliable mid-sized Android tablet.

Smooth performance. Runs Android 4.4. Affordable for 8-inch display.

Outdated display. Anemic speaker and cameras.

Cameras and Conclusions The pair of cameras included here are both pretty anemic, even by tablet standards. The rear-facing 3-megapixel camera takes decent shots in good outdoor lighting, but detail is sorely lacking and the poor dynamic range left...

Samsung Galaxy Tab A Review

Samsung Tab A (SM-T355Y) is the company's latest tablet with 4G LTE support and voice calling capabilities that was launched in India for Rs. 20,500 last month. It also has a large 8-inch display. Is this the best 4G tablet for the price ? Let us find...

4G support with voice calling; Good performance; Good build

Low-resolution display; Too wide to use for voice calling; Slightly on the expensive side

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A is a decent tablet with 4G support running on Android Lollipop for the price of Rs. 20,500. The tablet is slim and light in weight compared to most other 8-inch tablets. The display resolution is too low for the price...
