Toshiba Encore 2 Write

Hands-on: Toshiba upgrades its portable slate with S Pen-rivalling tech

There’s no UK pricing as yet, so it’s difficult to know if the Encore 2 Write is going to be good value for money. At $350 in the US, that's likely to put it around the £250 mark like previous 8-inch Encore tablets have been. With the added stylus,...

Toshiba Encore 2 Write review

A sharp stylus, but dull everywhere else

Excellent stylus tech ; Cool writing apps ; OK price

Otherwise boring ; Easily out-specced

Without its cool stylus tech and writing apps, there's not much else to Toshiba's latest mid-range tablet that, for the price, just isn't competitive.

Toshiba Encore 2 review

Upon switching on the Toshiba Encore 2 tablet, the company's "Leading Innovation" brand strategy slogan pops onto the screen. But does the second-generation tablet truly innovate within the entire market, or does it merely represent progress within...

Affordable, full Windows 8.1, non-reflective screen with good viewing angles and ample brightness, microSD expansion

Why is the Start button on top edge?, runs hot for no discernible reason, large bezel, not Full HD screen, some glitches, fails to stand out

We arrive in conclusion feeling that the Encore 2 is an echo of its predecessor. Or, daresay, a kind of extended encore. How apt.

Toshiba Encore 2 WT10-A review

The Toshiba Encore 2 WT10-A is a Windows tablet with respectable performance even in desktop apps, but its display is a little disappointing

Toshiba Encore 8 review

If not for its annoyingly bulky design and slightly expensive price, the Toshiba Encore 8 would be your best option for a small Windows 8.1 tablet. As it stands, the Dell Venue 8 Pro is lower priced, thinner, and lighter.

The Toshiba Encore 8 runs Windows 8.1, boasts zippy performance, and has a microSD storage expansion slot.

The design is bulkier and heavier than most other small tablets. With no keyboard accessory, desktop mode is a headache to navigate.

The Toshiba Encore 8 offers a lot for its price, but the more appealing Dell Venue 8 Pro is a cheaper and sleeker alternative.

Toshiba Encore 2 review

The new Toshiba Encore 2 comes in both 8in and 10in flavours, and we checked out the smaller one to see if there's been much progress since last time.

Full Windows 8.1, expandable memory, budget price

Underpowered processor, so-so screen, battery life not great, no camera flash, no 4G

Toshiba Encore Windows 8 tablet (preview)

The Toshiba Encore is an 8in tablet that runs the full version of Microsoft's Windows 8.1 operating system

Swift performance ; Feels good in the hand ; HDMI output and microSD card storage slot ; Good battery life

Buttons are a little too shallow ; Brightness didn't always work well ; Tight microSD card slot ; Awkward to charge

Toshiba's Encore offers a much better experience than previous low-power, Windows 8 tablets we've tested, and we recommend it if you're in the market for a Windows-based tablet device. At 8 inches, it can be a little awkward to use, especially when...

Toshiba expands Windows 8 tablet lineup with the $200 Encore 2.

The Encore 2 starts at $200 and comes in 8- and 10-inch flavors, but they offer largely identical features.

Toshiba Encore 8 ( 32GB)

The Encore 8 features microSD storage and something few tablets -- including the Venue 8 Pro -- have: Micro-HDMI. As a full Windows 8.1 system, the Encore 8 runs all Windows legacy programs. That is, as long as you can find space. The tablet comes in...
