LG LX9500 (3DTV)

We are testing LG's flagship model LX9500. LX9500 is a 3DTV with LG's new very slim direct LED backlight with local dimming. LX9500 also features a THX mode for very accurate picture quality as well as DLNA and Internet services.

Picture quality; Very deep black because of local dimming; Response time; HD picture; Calibration setting options

Inputs facing towards wall; Halos and horizontal banding from local dimming; Shadow detailing sometimes; DLNA/NetCast not fantastic; Reflections

LG LX9500 is a very minimalistic TV. The bezel around the panel is reduced to a minimum and the cabinet is very slim. LG has still found room for a direct LED system with local dimming and this is impressive. We are less impressed with the position of...

LG 47LX9500 3D LED television

LG's best LED TV has deep contrast levels and great picture quality

Great image quality and contrast levels, solid video-on-demand implementation

Mediocre 3D implementation, reflective screen (although not terribly so), some backlight cloudiness on high contrast edges

LG's best 3D LED television is an excellent all-rounder apart from its mediocre display of 3D content. It has excellent picture quality and a very high contrast ratio, and offers some very well implemented video-on-demand features. Apart from the...

LG LX9500 review: LG LX9500

LG LX9500

Produces among the deepest shades of black of any TV; superb shadow detail; exceedingly accurate color; better off-angle viewing than many LCDs; controls local dimming "blooming" well; solid streaming and interactive features; extensive picture...

Expensive; uneven backlight uniformity; adjustable dejudder doesn't work well; subpar bright-room performance; cannot properly process 1080p/24 content; benefits of 480Hz difficult to discern; washed-out image with no picture adjustments in 3D mode;...

Loads of features, a nearly frameless design, and excellent overall 2D performance increase the appeal of the LG LX9500 series LED-based LCD TV, but its 3D picture needs work.

LG Infinia 47LX9500

LG's good-looking 47-inch Infinia 47LX9500 delivers a solid picture with deep blacks, but at $4,000+ before accessories, this 3D HDTV is no bargain.

Beautifully designed. Good 3D and sharp HD image quality. Deep blacks. Energy efficient.

Very expensive. Some backlight blooming. Uncomfortable, expensive 3D glasses.

LG LM7600 review: LG LM7600

Most of the expensive, "Smart," beautiful-looking LED TVs we've reviewed this year were disappointments when we turned them on, but not the LG LM7600 series.

The ; series has very good overall picture quality, with deep black levels for an LED TV. The semimatte screen worked well in brighter rooms, and the 3D was virtually free of crosstalk. Blessed by a thin, tastefully black bezel, this is one of the most...

The relatively expensive LM7600 evinced poor screen uniformity, with an obvious hot spot in the upper corner. Color was less accurate than that of many competitors. Its passive 3D showed occasional artifacts and moving lines.

If you've been holding out for an LED TV with picture quality that mostly lives up to its stunning design and cutting-edge features, the LM7600 series deserves a look.

LG 55LM8600 3D Smart TV Review

LG 55LM7600

The LG 55LM7600 offers an incredibly good 3D picture — if you sit far enough away from the TV — plus, plenty of smarts and clever control functions at a reasonable price.

Excellent picture quality. Very good network content. Excellent 3D crosstalk rejection. Great 'Magic Motion' remote interface.

No analogue audio output for use with external sound system. Subjectively smaller 3D picture due to need to sit further away.

LG Infinia 47LX9500

While you wouldn't buy it for the 3D mode alone, the LG 47LX9500 is capable of excellent image quality in a home cinema environment.

Industry-leading black levels without "iris" effects ; Bright, clear images ; 3D-capable ; BigPond Movies

3D mode is poor ; Some light bloom in local-dimming mode ; Screen reflective in a lit room

Despite a couple of minor faults, it seems that LG has ended its poor showing so far by releasing the LX9500. If you treat it with care, not only does it look great in your lounge room it looks great when turned on. If LED local dimming is this good...
