Panasonic TX-50CX700B

On the surface, at least, the TX-50CX700B appears to be a serious bargain. For £900, you get a 50in screen with a 4K UHD resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels, alongside an impressive number of picture and smart TV features.

Great picture quality and features for the money ; The Firefox OS is very good ; Polished upscaling

Motion handling could be better ; Some minor backlight flaws ; 3D lacks detail

Panasonic TX-55CX700

The headline TVs on show at the recent Panasonic Convention in Frankfurt were undoubtedly the brand's previously unseen flagship curved 4K TVs, the CR850 series. But for many regular folk – people without bottomless bank accounts – the most intriguing...

Panasonic TX-50CX700 review

This 4K set is a joy to watch and a pleasure to use, but how does the Panasonic shape up against its closest competitors?

Good amount of detail ; Nuanced colour palette ; Pleasure to use

Contrast could be better defined ; Uneven backlight on our sample

We can have few qualms with this reasonably priced 4K telly; its performance is still good enough to justify a bit of penny pinching

Panasonic TX-50CX700 review

This metallic mid-ranger with Firefox and blade-like feet puts 4K at the forefront

Slick design ; 4K detail ; Black levels ; Colours ; Firefox OS

Only three HDMI inputs ; DVDs not upscaled well ; Some motion blur ; Freeview Play delayed

With Firefox OS on board and an all-new LED panel, the TX-50CX700 – complete with razor-sharp design – comes across as a good value 4K telly, which makes the most of its pixels and upscales well.

Panasonic TX-50CX700B (CX700) 4K Ultra HD TV Review

After a sticky 2014 can Panasonic pull out the stops for a 4K 2015? We review the first LED LCD from the new range, the Currys exclusive CX700.

Excellent out of the box accuracy ; Excellent calibrated performance ; Good black levels and shadow detail ; Good backlight uniformity ; Very good video processing ; Decent input lag ; Very good build quality

Some backlight clouding and haloing when viewed in completely dark surroundings ; Dynamic mode is terrible ; No MOV file support ; SD card media player limited to 80Mbps so some 4K content might not playback if it requires more bandwidth ; Only...

As this is the first of the new 2015 line from Panasonic we have reviewed we were quite anxious about what we were going to get in terms of performance and picture quality. It is probably safe to say that 2014 was a very mixed year for the company and...
